Both A7 and S6 lite do not have an AMOLED screen. TFT screen makes the colors dull. My S2 is more vibrant when streaming. It's a great deal for sub 300 but the old screen technology is a deal breaker. Tab 5e is the closest $300 range samsung tablet with AMOLED.

Yes. 3 main differences from what I've seen between S6 Lite vs. A7:

4GB vs 3GB Ram
S-Pen
Exynos 9611 vs Snapdragon 662 processor

Of these 3, the S-Pen was the biggest factor for me. I wanted a cheap way to try out a stylus with a tablet, and it's been a real eye-opener. The stylus adds a ton of usability to a tablet, IMO. Of the other 2, the SD 662 is probably slightly better than the 9611, but I don't think it's a huge deal, and I'd gladly take more RAM instead of the processor.

better than Costco discount price for exact same model. Just need to add ~ $20 tablet cover and still have a better price than Costco price

Really depends on the budget. The A7 is going for about $120 with rakabuten + cancel trick. S6 is 2x that, S7 is 3x that.

If you don't need a pen then A7 is the better deal. If you want top of the line then S7 for 3x the price if that's worth it to you.

Totally agree with you. But if you were going to get the A7, odds are it's mainly going to be for media consumption. At that point might as well pay for a Fire HD 10 and install android for $80

Great mid range tablet, you can also install Linux on it (which I did since it doesn't have Samsung Dex). I used the app Andronix to help with that. Overall I am quite pleased with it.
