Both A7 and S6 lite do not have an AMOLED screen. TFT screen makes the colors dull. My S2 is more vibrant when streaming. It's a great deal for sub 300 but the old screen technology is a deal breaker. Tab 5e is the closest $300 range samsung tablet with AMOLED.

Yes. 3 main differences from what I've seen between S6 Lite vs. A7:

4GB vs 3GB Ram
S-Pen
Exynos 9611 vs Snapdragon 662 processor

Of these 3, the S-Pen was the biggest factor for me. I wanted a cheap way to try out a stylus with a tablet, and it's been a real eye-opener. The stylus adds a ton of usability to a tablet, IMO. Of the other 2, the SD 662 is probably slightly better than the 9611, but I don't think it's a huge deal, and I'd gladly take more RAM instead of the processor.

This better than A7 I assume? But A7 has pretty nice speaker I tested at the store, not sure how the other specs compare!

I tried price matching the coupon unsuccessfully with Samsung. If price matching was possible, it would come out to ~$160 with the cashback, education discount and cancellation trick.

Sneaky Amazon made the discount a coupon instead of price as marked to make the deal not price match-able.

You're right in that A7 has much better speaker. Main difference is that S6 lite has S-pen and for A7: you cannot use pen for A7 as good as S6 lite even if you buy additional tablet pen. Otherwise, specification between A7 and S6 are quite similar.

with all the deals on an S6/S7, might pay the extra and get one of those. Unless you're really on a tight budget. Performance wise is noticeable.
