I have 3 knives from this line from 1997 that I recently had professionally sharpened and it is amazing. I use the 8in chef daily for most of its life and it still performs like new. The price for this set is very good, I paid over $200 for just 3 knives back then.

Great price for great knives. Our set that we got for our wedding still going strong 12 years later. It is tempting to buy another set but we don't "need" more...

Awesome knives. Have had a set for 30 years or so. Hand wash, use the block, hone with the steel rather than sharpening. Have added a Shun or two over the years (sharper, but less durable). Go for it. They'll last a lifetime and you won't be disappointed.

Got these from BB&B for $80 after some negotiating... At the time, I only wanted a Santoku, but couldn't pass up such a ridiculous deal. I've been using these for 5 years now, and they're phenomenal for the price point. Typically each piece is around $100, so they're a great value at this price. The block looks great, they're weighted well, and if you hone them with each use, they'll hold their edge quiet nicely. But just like any knife, they'll eventually need a proper sharpening. I would jump on this if I needed them!

I have the lower line twin signature and been looking to upgrade. But these don't look like they have a full tang?

Just curious Why the Birch 10 Piece option has a higher suggested price than the 14 slot Acadia option?

I have one of each in my drawer, the one-man version was made in Spain with German steel. I got it from my grandmother so I doubt that's still the case today. Just saying it's not an absolute rule.

Some people wash them and then stick them in there, which is a bad habit, but all the "dust" inside your knife block is mostly your knives cutting the wood inside, thus reducing durability. I use a thing that the wirecutter recommended, though, so I'm biased.

Magnets also work great for storing knive

I have four of their knives that I bought separately and they have been great. They sharpen up super sharp. I sliced my thumb open just the other day on one!
