Last week the 12 Pro went frontpage at $199. This is a much better deal, the 12 Pro is actually inferior to the non-pro Kamvas 13 (explained below)
Amazon has the HUION KAMVAS 13 Pen Display/Drawing Tablet on sale for $189 after -$50 "clippable coupon" - you must click the checkbox before adding to cart
Item is sold by the official HUION seller account, shipped by Amazon.
edit: the deals have shuffled a bit, but are updated below in red:
Black: $215 >
Now $192 or $208 w/ stand
Purple: $189 >
Now $207 w/ stand
Green: $204 >
Now $203 or $209 w/ stand
Why this one? This is the 2020 Kamvas 13... it's the one you want, specifically because it is a new 2020 edition and thus
comes with the upgraded PW517 pen, which is a VAST improvement in quality. Most of the other Kamvas models including pros are still coming with a PW507. The Kamvas 13 PRO has the same specs HOWEVER it has an older pen because it's a 2019 edition, and still runs a $300 price tag. You do NOT want to pay extra for the pro version, you WANT the cheaper (NEWER) Kamvas 13 (2020 edition). Almost forgot:
this Kamvas 13 has laminated glass (no gap between pen tip and pixels in screen - "parallax") - usually in the past you needed to spring for the pro version to get laminated glass.

$207:

$208:

PS: The color refers to the back/bottom of the tablet color, the front is always black. The "Midnight Green" color is something like olive meets cement gray, not a bright green. The purple is similarly muted but still looks "purple"

DO I NEED THE EXTRA CABLES?
You don't "need" them but they're nice to have. The tablet comes with a 3-in-1 cable using USB A and HDMI to connect. However, using a single "fully featured" USB C cable is less clumsy/bulky than the 3-in-1 and may be preferred. The thing is, you can't just go buy any fully featured USB C cable... the ports are recessed, generic USB C cables won't fit in the plug. Huion normally charges $30 for the cable, so bundling it in for ~$15 is ideal if you would like to use a simple USB C cable rather than a 3-in-1 cable (you can view the 3-in-1 cable on the product listing)
I hope I helped some of you score a pen display that you will love! I've been a lurker here for years and used the site 10+ hours last week shopping for a laptop and found one I truly adore thanks to all of you, so felt it was my duty to try and give back to the community. I nursed this thread like a baby. Proud of myself to see it actually got some traction

These are art tablets trying to reproduce the level of detail you can get with real brushes, pens, pencils, etc. Surface Pros are computers that let you take notes, draw simple things, do OCR, make annotations on documents, etc.
Not to say there isn't overlap and the truth is many people will not make full use of this because they (myself included) lack the artistic skill to do so. You might actually get more use out of the Surface overall but from a pure art perspective the Surface is noticably inferior.
It's bigger than it seems from the pics and description, imo, but I haven't used a dedicated portable usb display before so I don't know how they compare on weight and size.
Not really comparable
iPad is much more multipurpose for notes, work, reading, content etc.
