I assumed this Sharp TV would be the first to be made by Foxconn (owner of Sharp now) under the Sharp name. The previous were all made by hisense and those were pretty junk. Foxconn rebought the rights after the name deteriorated under hisense but due to the pricing and energy star sticker this may be another rebadged hisense set

This is a real Sharp TV by Sharp. They have it listed on their US website (the only one).

Yep... I feel ancient; I still have my first LCD TV; a 37" Sharp Aquos from 2006 that I purchased at Circuit City.Smilie

Thanks OP. I gave you 👍 and Rep'ed. I just ordered it. I've been waiting for this deal to come back on sale since a few weeks. I missed out last time. I've avoided purchasing cheaper Chinese Communist Party brands like TCL, Hisense, Vizio, etc. I'm glad that Sharp cut off it's license with Hisense last year. I hope that JVC does the same with it's Chinese licensee. Even if something is Made in China/PRC only part of the profit goes to CCP if the brand is non-China. But if the brand is from China like TCL, Vizio, Hisense, OnePlus, Lenovo, etc then most of the profit goes to CCP. CCP is using our money against us and it's neighboring countries. Just a few months ago China fired two cruise missiles at US Navy near Philippines. Watch China Uncensored [youtube.com] to learn more.

Vizio is an American company as far as I am aware.

On topic, this deal looks dead. I remained undecided for too long. Frown

That was short lived., I was trying to decide between that and the Hisense 70H6570G for $449. Does anyone have any experience with both units pros / cons ?

I bought my first flat screen TV in 2006 on black Friday. It was a 46" Sharp Aquos for $1080. I price matched the TV at Sears because Circuit City was sold out!

Anyway, is this TV a good deal at $500?
