That's a setting called motion smoothing that you can turn off
I have the Roku version of this TV and you can definitely cast to it from Android without a dongle.

Just got 2 android TVs there operating system is really slow compared to roku but the prices I got were steals. Last year most of the Black Friday TVs were roku but more expensive this year most of the TVs are android and less expensive. Android TVs are ok but need improvement on speed and connectivity other than that roku will be Much faster and easier to use.
Yeah got latest dedicated multicore Android boxes running Android TV 9 and they still slow compared to Roku but think big part of it is Roku is very minimalistic UI in comparison to anything else out there one of the reasons it so snappy and responsive tbh.

Seeing these deals closer and closer to Black Friday, I am so glad I jumped on the $148 55" TCL.

Strongly advise anyone interested in a TCL opts for a Roku TV instead of Android TV.

How do you turn it off? I have not seen this setting in the menu.

I'm having a hard time adjust this tv main use is for ps5.

Have any settings you can share? Thanks

I'm using a 3-year old version of this for a 4k monitor on my desk at work and have a 4 year old version at home, no issues with either. I also have a higher end 55in TCL from 3 years ago, no issues there either, and I am very impressed with the picture for price at the time. Not a lot of data points, but I'd definitely buy TCL again.

I've been leaning towards Android TVs simple to be able to cast to them without a dongle.

You can do that with a small dongle for $25. Android TV is garbage it's missing too many apps.

You can sideload everything so easily Roku you are stuck with what they give you.

Android tv is the clear winner in 2020 and on.

Replaced 2 monitors for the Roku version of this and very happy with it. 3feet back is the sweet spot. Even moved my xbox from the living room 70" to it. Anxious to see XSX 4k on it whenever I can get past 'pending'. 😂

I've been using this as both a monitor and tv for three weeks now. It's great for the price. Didn't have enough money for a real 4k monitor for work so this tv works just fine. It can do 4:4:4 but my RX480 doesn't seem to be able to go past 8 bpc so it looks terrible. I'm running YCbCR 4:2:2 instead and it looks great for my purposes (teaching online and web browsing). Text is sharp and plenty of screen space. I have it set on movie mode instead of PC because I don't like my screen that bright for my eyes. It does struggle with motion and ghosting when scrolling too fast but nothing that I can't overlook for the price.

Using it as a TV is fine but finicky. Interface isn't lightning fast but usable. I'm not getting the terrible lag that some people are reporting. Youtube videos run fine, even real 4k ones. However, HDR content, like Star Wars movies on Disney+ looked terrible at first until I put the TV on PC mode. So that's how I'm using it (movie mode for my PC and PC mode for watching it as a smart TV).

Android can probably do more than roku... Plus you can easily add Kodi....

I recently got this tv for $199 and returned it. The picture quality is good for the price, but there were some motion issues and stuttering that I didnt like. The ps5 worked fine with it and looked good though I'm sure the mid to higher end tvs look better.

I'm probably going to stick with a 4k monitor for my ps5, but may think about a mid to higher end tv later.

What a disservice to that PS5
