The S5 is an older model. The S6 Pure is a great vac for those who have a multi level home, or a mix of hard floors and carpets/rugs, and don't want or need sophisticated mopping capabilities.

(By "sophisticated mopping capabilities," I mean an electronic water tank that is controlled by the app, allowing you to create the things like "no mop zones." For those features, but the S5 Max, on sale for about $80 more than this deal.)

If you have only hardwood floors, or only very tight outdoor-style rugs, or only a small 1-level home, then there are cheaper models than this (like the S4 or E4) that may suit your needs.

I have no desire for mopping, but I bought this S6 Pure last time it was at this price because it made it cheaper than the S4 Max. I just never installed the mop. It's been awesome. Highly recommend Roborock.
Got this in the last deal. The setup process was slightly cumbersome. Some things to watch out for:

1. You need to use the Mi Home app. The Roborock app wasn't working (at least for me).
2. Your wifi SSID has to be alphanumeric characters only, and you have to connect to the 2.4GHz band, if your router is dual band. If you have a mesh router, it should auto-connect to the 2.4GHz band.
3. You need to give the app precise location permissions (otherwise it wasn't connecting to wifi successfully).

After the setup though, I'm fairly happy with the performance. The app isn't very polished, but it does its job. The LIDAR is definitely nice though, the mapping is fairly accurate in terms of boundaries, and drawing boundaries in the app is usable. Haven't tried the mopping feature and don't intend to.

The hardwood performance on rtings is much better than the Roomba 960, which made me gravitate towards this one, that and the zone mapping feature.

Can someone recommend a good robot mop for a 2 level home with hardwood floor? I need especially the mop functionality
Personally, I would not use any mopping vac on hardwood floors. They are fine for mopping tile floors, but all they do it drag plain water across your floor. That's not good for your hardwood.
For a 2 level home with hardwood floors I recommend the Roborock S4 Max. If you have small areas with tile floors you want to mop selectively, then the S5 Max.

I know you're not supposed to put anything other than water in these, but has anyone tried something gentle/natural? Diluted vinegar? Or will this totally ruin the robot. We have 100% tile, and know it wont take up the really gunked on stuff but would like it to do as much mopping as it physically can and for some reason just some water and a pad doesn't sound too promising.

I remember years ago the original Scooba vacumed and sucked up the dirty water - I think? Are there any current robots that do this or do they all use a pad?

It just drips out of the plastic container into pad I wouldn't see the harm, but thats up to you.

Not sure why Roborock is rated low compared to iRobot and Neato:

My only concern with Roborock is that the ARM CPU brand they use has Chinese backdoors.

My parents bought me an iRobot Roomba 675. Should I return and upgrade to this? Will mostly be used on vinyl and carpet in a 2000sqft home.

IMO, you should grab the roborock E4 at the same price point. (189.99 on sale via amazon.) Its significantly better and has a floor sensor for mapping/tracking surfaces it covered.

Vacuum performance (suction/pickup) of the E4 Rivals top end robots from all manufacturers.

The 675 is an outdated "dumb" bot that ping pongs around the house with low suction power and rollers that collect tons of hair and needs to be consistently cleaned. Suction/pickup isn't strong. It can miss tons of areas, especially on 2k SQFT.

I'm actually convinced the price point of the 675 is only high because of the "roomba name" and most Americans are only starting to buy robot vacuums. 675 design is based on the 500 series which dates back to 2012 or so. The price shouldn't be anywhere close to 280 MSRP, but rather current pricing it is now from my brief experience with 3 alternative vacuums. Even at 180~ usd, its quite lackluster compared to the market of Asian options.

Relatively the E4 competes directly with the Roomba i3, but some reviewers claim the i3 is a little better at navigation even though they have an identical floor track system. (I haven't used the E4)

Price point is around $100-110 difference for "comparable" performance (E4 is a little better at pickup on hard floors) and technology. I3 sits @ 299 on sale, E4 is 189.99.

For people with robot vacuums, how do they handle random toys on the floor from kids that will be in a different place each run? Nothing small enough to get sucked.

S6Pure Vs S4Max

So here is what im looking for
Decent Vacuum under 300
Has mapping
No Go Zone so it doesn't go over carpet that cannot be vacuumed
I dont need a Mop

Everyone is saying jump on the S6Pure since its cheaper than S4Max right now and dont use the mopping

But on amazon

S6pure $391.94 after tax
S4Max $348.39 after tax

Im confused.

I snagged the 360 S5 that has a 34% coupon which takes it down to $250 since I didn't need the mopping feature from the Roborock S6.

Received it yesterday and tried it out last night. Mapped my house pretty well and the app wasn't an issue to install and set up. It has mapping and no go zone.
