I bought one for my mom for Christmas. It's replacing a truly old piece of garbage laptop. Cant beat the price!

get the $149 chromobook from Breast Buy or this?? for a 10-year old... ?
Spend $80 bucks more and get the $299 Lenovo from Best Buy. This and the chrome book are below basic requirements and is just ASKING for trouble.
Better and bigger screen, more memory, bigger keyboard and bigger SSD for $80 more.

Is this good for VERY basic use just using chrome, word, citrix and zoom?
As has been suggested here the 4GB of RAM will cause this to underperform relative to the other reasonable specifications here (such as the decent modern CPU). This isn't broken, but 8GB is indeed becoming the minimum just to boot Windows 10 given the memory footprint. Open enough tabs in Chrome and suddenly the page file comes into play (moving things between RAM and the storage drive).

Were the RAM at least upgradeable this would be easier to justify. This experience could get frustrating.

Good luck!

Looks like an okay deal. 4GB RAM for Windows is what's stopping me from getting this though. And looks like RAM is not upgradable unless I'm wrong.
You can upgrade it up to 32 GB.

Am I the only one seeing so many typos across every SD deal today?
No typo. That was intentional

Heck of a good deal for a basic laptop. Reminiscent of the Walmart Motile Ryzen 3 deal, but without the FHD screen.
I suspect the Ryzen 3xxx is faster in graphics, but super toasty...Zen/+ were hot and inefficient chips. Zen2/4000 is in another category.

32GB would be a waste for this CPU/GPU...you'd hit a chip bottleneck way before RAM here.

I bought a 15" HP with the same specs in June and it works great, there is no frustration. I haven't found anything it doesn't run fine. I guess I could if I tried, and in the future I guess it will slow down, but for basic use 4gb is fine for Windows 10, at least with a SSD.

That said, Lenovo has a touchscreen for $20 more in 5 days, if you want an alternative. https://slickdeals.net/f/14502089-lenovo-black-friday-lenovo-ideapad-3-15-laptop-intel-core-i3-10th-gen-4gb-ram-128gb-ssd-win-10-home-for-229-99?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo

Minecraft and Roblox will be a better experience on Windows. What else does a 10 year old do?

I think for a windows laptop, 4 GB of RAM is a serious bottleneck that can't be overlooked. And I think people usually would be better off with a cheaper Chromebook if they are fine with 4 GB of RAM. I don't know why companies solder RAM with 4 GB offerings because they could sell a lot more just by making RAM upgrade-able.

According to the manual (https://support.hp.com/us-en/prod...06/manuals), it seems that memories are fully upgradeable. Which means even the original 4gb is not soldered on, but in one of the two slots.
