Sad to see these reports of HDMI issues.
Switched to Yamaha a few years back due to Onkyo HDMI issues
My 7850 has been great, as was its predecessor.

It actually said it was approved? I did my adjust on mobile and I don't recall seeing anything that confirmed one way or another. I didn't even get an email confirmation. There doesn't appear to be any way to track the request unless it shows on the order once the adjustment is made. I'll probably try to call later today.
Yes here is the text it displayed at the bottom of the screen when I did the match on a desktop "Upon review of your submission, the requested credit will typically be processed within 5-7 business days. All credits, with the exception of orders placed using Costco Shop Cards, will be issued to the original method of payment used at the time of the order. If an order was placed using a Costco Shop Card, the credit will be issued as a new Costco Shop Card with the credit value."

Right, that just says they'll review it and, if approved, it will apply in 5-7 days. It doesn't actually say it was approved. I'm in a chat now to try and get the match.

I also submitted a price adjustment at the link below. The page said the price adjustment was approved at the bottom of the page and it will take 5-7 days to credit the difference.

I submitted a price adjustment request this morning (after seeing this post), but there was no approval at the bottom of the page. Instead, it merely stated that they would take 5-7 days to process.

I bought it and installed. Lot of problems and I am returning it.

It has serious sound issues and I could not make the surround sound work even after trying for 2 days. Either the sound comes from front (nothing from rear) or plays on both front and rear speakers on same side. System audio test plays sound in all speakers.
I tried so many audio files on YouTube and these are my two test files. One [youtu.be], Two [youtube.com] The helicopter one plays really amazing on my $150 Sony 5.1 Blueray player. But I could hear nothing on this receiver.

My biggest usage with this receiver is music and movies. The audio is muffled some times and with rear speaker issues I am not even enjoying the music.

The user interface sucks. Lot of menu options are disabled due to a setting turned on somewhere else. You have no way to know why the menu is disabled or how to enable it back. There is so much space on the TV to display information but nothing shows up.

This is my first ever receiver and my experience with it sucks.

Submitted PM. Even with all the bad reviews, if they don't fix the issues I can always return to Costco. $330 is an excellent price for this

For those who own it, has the firmware update from last month helped at all? Notes only said bug fixes so not sure what it addressed.

I just did the chat and they applied the adjustment within minutes (took longer to wait in the queue). I got the confirmation email that $70 is going back on my card in the next few days. I know a lot of people are having problems, but I trust Yamaha to fix. They have a good name and I don't think they'd risk it here. I'm in no rush and $330 is not a lot to risk, even if they don't end up coming through.

Would it best to buy this online tomorrow 11/24? Doesn't the extra 5% Citi cash back on online purchases kick in?

Just saw this on the AVR forums from Crash1977:

"Hi,
Just got this reply from Yamaha about their release schedule for the firmware

Regarding new RXV4A and RXV6A receivers

Important to note that these new resolutions and the HDMI2.1 features are not active out of the box. There will be multiple Firmware updates as the actual contents become available... The reason for this is that Yamaha chooses to test and certify all features and resolutions before releasing. Also note that none of these resolution sources are currently available.

Here's the proposed Firmware update schedule:
4K120A - Firmware update April-June 2021
VRR(Variable Refresh Rate) - Firmware update March 2021
ALLM(Auto Low Latency Mode) - Firmware update April 2021
QMS(Quick Media Switching) - Firmware update April 2021
HDR10+(Dynamic HDR) - Firmware update April 2021
QFT(Quick Frame Transport) - Firmware update April 2021
8K60B & 4K120B - Firmware update September 2021
Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization – Firmware update April 2021

We've been made aware of an issue related to certain emerging video signals (4K/120Hz etc) from certain sources that can cause a loss of picture and sound when passed through the AVR. However, from the time we first announced our 2020 AVRs, we have stated that we will support such new formats via future updates. Please rest assured that we will address the reported issue as part of these future updates including permanent solution as needed."

Price match usually 30 days but people have said they've extended that due to Covid. You could always return and rebuy as an option too. No time limit to return receivers.

With all the issues reported, the returns for these will be massive. I'd expect it to go lower and open box deals are just around the corner.

Originally, the firmware updates were supposed to occur in December 2020, but now they're saying March - June 2021. If they're extending the fix timeline out that far I think they are really just waiting for a new chip from Panasonic to fix the issues, before telling the current customers to upgrade to a newer AV model.
