Quad Lock (QuadLock) phone cases and mounts: 30% off everything

+11 Deal Score

Quad Lock cases and mounts (motorcycle, bicycle, car, running etc.) have their Black Friday sale, everything is 30% off.

https://www.quadlockcase.com/

Based on my research, this is good stuff for motorcycle etc. mounts. If you watched recent Long Way Up show, you could see their phones in Quad Lock cases when riding from the tip of the south America to Los Angeles.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

This is the best deal on these every year. They are sleek and high quality, worth the price if you value the form factor.

Is it safer to have your phone on a mount or in one of those bags that sit on top of your top tube?

Probably in one of those bags. But the convenience of this system is much nicer. It would be a pretty bad crash to damage phone either way (I picture a mountain bike flipping end over end down a ledge)

Which model do you have? If you have the regular Out Front, is it made of plastic or aluminum (I can't seem to find that info anywhere on the Quad Lock site). I've been torn on whether to get the Out Front or Out Front Pro since the Pro is made out of aluminum and should (in theory) absorb vibration better than plastic. I do like the fact that the regular Out Front model can be mounted either in front of the bars or in reverse so that it's over the stem.

Regular out front is plastic. I use it on my mtb and road bike no issues. Use it on some climb to downhill trails and medium jump lines. Haven't used it on lift service and I don't leave it on for something I might crash hard on. Might be fine in a big crash but not sure(I mean you can say that for any part of your bike so I think it would be unfair to expect it to 100% protect your phone on a major crash). Hasn't been knocked loose by roots, rock gardens or minor crashes.

i have used both out front models. the traditional is shorter, made of plastic, and can be flipped backwards to hold the phone over the stem. that is really hand on my MTB that has a short and steep stem.
the pro version is longer and made out of aluminum. if mounted backward, it would probably give you an unusable angle in any common stem situation. the pro version is a bit nicer looking in terms of sleekness for a road bike, as the phone sits a bit lower than the regular version. But I also feel like the mount transmits a lot of vibration as it is more rigid than the plastic out front mount. it sounds like you might be better off with the original.

Which mount do you personally like better? All I do right now is road biking so I would most likely always have the mount out in front instead of over the stem so it would be easier to see when leaning forward.

I like the look of the pro. The phone sits further out and lower, like a bike GPS. The pro gives you a little better visibility. The only thing that I don't like is that the mount clamps metal on metal to your handlebars, so it will cause some cosmetic wear whenever you remove the mount. Oh and I would only recommend the non-pro if you have carbon handlebars as I don't like extra clamping force on carbon items.

I'm not sure if my handlebars (3T T.H.E. on a 2003 LeMond Arrivee) are aluminum or carbon, and I can't find any information on them anywhere. I'll just get the Pro and put a piece of cloth electrical tape on the bar where I'll be bolting the mount and hopefully that will protect it.

Thanks a ton for the help! hug

Sounds good. Just don't go crazy over tightening it down and you should be fine either way. Enjoy!

There is 10% off currently. Debating if I want to wait until Nov or not for 20% extra 🧐
