As someone who has used both - moderate users should absolutely go with Elements. It has all the essential features, to me. Also, full version is complex and somewhat expensive if you stay subscribed - $10/month for Photoshop and Lightroom. Unless there's some specific feature you need, this is fine.

Note that all the other programs are now a subscription, not one time purchase like this. Someone can always do a trial of the full version.

At least in previous versions, it could be set to different modes - quick / guided /expert - which changes the set of features shown to suit how someone uses it.

TBH though most people could get by with what's on a recent iPhone, if they just want to do brightness, light and shadow, etc. Of course working with layers, selections or animations requires something more like this.

Premiere is also worth having for someone willing to spend a little time getting up to speed.

Thanks.....got the disc version. My wife has been wanting to get the full version of photoshop. I guess this "elements" version will have to do for now. Anyone know if the difference between full version and elements is that great for casual/moderate users?

I want to capture "screen shots" from saved mp4 vids I saved off the net.
I am using the free VLC now for windows 10. I also have the free Windows Movie Maker that came with windows 8Peace
Is this better? I now pause the vid using VLC, hit space bar, and it advances frame by frame.

Any help, suggestions?

I am still using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS4 extended. I just do amateur photography and other digital editing with them and they always seem to suit my purpose. Is there much benefit in updating to newer versions?

I'm currently on the trial of this and tinkered a bit, I really wanted to replace the organization features of Lightroom, but as far as I can tell this doesn't do it.

All I was able to find was an add to library option that leaves the file where it is so if you want to organize by yyyymmdd folders it won't build those folders and move the files in like Lightroom. I've messed with a bunch of recommended photo software and so far only Lightroom did this in a way that was easy and intuitive for me.

Any suggestions? Am I missing something in the premiere organization?

I'm about ready to pay for Google photos storage for organization and just get these elements programs for a little heavier editing tools.

If I recall from the license, you're supposed to be able to install it on 2 computers. I had it on my laptop and desktop but the problem is if you forget to deactivate or your system dies, there's no way to deactivate yourself. For me, this resulted in Adobe flagging my serial, then popping up a message saying my software was using a pirated key, then telling me I could "solve" it by switching to their Creative Cloud subscription. I talked to support and all they could do was ask me over and over where I bought it (from Adobe, even provided the order number) and then make some unhelpful suggestions (like manually deleting all Adobe folders instead of uninstalling).

TL;DR - Might be possible but may god have mercy on your soul if you somehow exceed the the limit and need support.
