The key is to lube the hole before you tap it. You get much better results when the hole is lubed.

Can you comment on quality? Seems to be lacking based on reviews.

I own this kit, and it has saved me countless times with miscellaneous car projects.

I'm sure there are better quality and more complete sets out there, but I think it is a good value for its performance.

So far I have only used one of the dies and it fixed my semi stripped M6 1.0 bolt. The set doesn't seems to be a poor made set despite it's made in China. It did the job for me so I am keep it.

I wonder if this can re-thread (reduce the size) a titanium bolt..

Titanium is not that hard of a material...Use lube and reduce the bolt diameter close to die size before rethread.

Forgive my ignorance, but whenever I've used a tap and die set, a good bit of the work a tap or die does is the cutting in reverse, at least when I do it, my motion is to cut clockwise, then back out a few degrees to clear the metal shavings, and smooth the threads, then back to forward cutting. Wouldn't this be impeded with a ratchet?
