My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.

Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!

Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

God damn it slickdeals! I've already bought 4 laptops and i needed 1!

I might regret not getting this one but i still think the zenbook i bought with the specs shown below was the best bang for the buck i got ($450). Has premium build and extremely fast. Dont think 4700U offers much of an upgrade over it considering the HP laptop might lack a few premium options / quality build compared to the Asus?

Folks keep harping about a "better deal" vs this one. Good....did you try to find your "better deals" in stock??? No deal is a "better deal" unless you are actually able to buy it! Try to buy one of the Best Buy buy or Walmart "better" deals...good luck finding any in stock, even open-box!

This is a good deal, but for those who prefer Dell, the Inspiron 5505 is now at $441 after 10% code (WEEKEND10). That's a 6-core Ryzen 5 4500U but no one buying a $400-500 laptop will notice a difference in real use.

I think the main reasons to go for the Dell would be the matte screen, larger battery (53 vs 41 Whr) and easier upgradability. Every HP consumer laptop I've ever owned has been a huge pain to open up.

If you have an Amex biz card, check for 10% off Dell. I believe both Dell and HP allow PayPal checkout, so that's 5%/5X UR points with a Chase Freedom card.
I ordered the Dell a couple days ago and debating if I should cancel the order and switch to this one. The difference is a better battery and 8GB ram in 1 stick but CPU from Ryzen 7 4700U to Ryzen 5 4500U. I am able to get the 12% code and the price comes to $430 before tax. If this 10% code is stackable maybe I will keep it.

Like others, I just purchased the Inspiron 5000 deal last night. That has 2 m.2 slots, albeit one is a short 2230 slot, and a 53 Wh battery instead of the 41 Wh in the HP. I think prefer the Dell keyboard layout, too, because it has pg up and pg down keys whereas it appears the HP overlays those functions on other keys (but I have a hard time finding a good picture of the HP keyboard). The HP laptop is a good price, but I think I'll stick with the Dell.
Kouskous44How is the build quality on this?

The dell 5000 was aluminum housing. Is this all plastic?
Dell also has finger print and supports Windows Hello.

I'm sure others have figured this out, but loaded as OP described w/ backlit keyboard, $10 wifi6 upgrade and 8gb ram - I was able to buy 2 @ $360 each w/ coupon code SMBHOL10 ($719.98 total).

I got this message as well... I waited a minute and tried again - it worked!
I was pretty surprised, that usually means it's game over, but it did go through eventually.

Is anyone else having issues adding it to the cart? Whenever I click add to cark it just spins and nothing happens. Is it sold out?
