My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.

Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!

Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0VP0sxzPWg Looks like the same laptop with a slightly different number. RAM isn't soldered.

2 people have now confirmed with HP reps that ram is soldered so the dell is looking like a good alternative

The ram is upgradable???
Are we all so sure the ram are soldiered? or is the laptop ram just being considered "non-user upgradeable"? The manual here from HP support site does mention of two ram modules:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06719992

You have to remove the rubber feet to access the screws at bottom but it seems upgradeable

It also appears to have usb-c with PD and DP as well as HDMI2.0

I can also confirm afters speaking with hp that the ram is soldered on the motherboard.

If you need higher ram, best to purchase with the upgraded ram price. Still a deal for $480 but the max ram you can get through selecting options is 16gb, which should be enough for most.

Unfortunately this is a no go for me as I don't like soldered ram. Seems the dell build is better.
This is just not possible unless they have three different motherboard configurations. Cost-wise it's simpler to have two slots for RAM.

Also, there's a teardown of a laptop under the same branding 15z and it absolutely has slots for RAM: https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/H...own/126179

doesnt look like theres a way to cancel orders with HP and there also seems to be a 15% restocking fee, so prob not worth it either way unless you're going to commit. and if cashback doesnt track you're out of luck

Speaking frankly the deal is just too good to be true.

How is this rig for video editing? I currently have 9th gen i5 and 1050ti gpu with 8gb ram in my Lenovo ideapad and there's some lag while editing 2.5k videos in lightweight software (openshot). Would this ryzen 7 4700 without dedicated gpu do better?

Still sitting with a $409.99 config in the cart (added blue color) but man I think I'm shying away from the potential of the Ram not being upgradeable and the return policy with the 15% restock fee. Shouldn't be these type of headaches if I don't like it, especially when other places don't have these policies.
