My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.
Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!
Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

So I have two of these ram sticks for total of 16gb but they are pc4 2666v so are they slower than whats included with this laptop?

Will I actually notice a diff since I do at times have up to 3-4 browsers windows opened,
Zoom app,
Solidworks,
OBS recorder,
OneNote opened
all at the same time.
According to the manual, dual channel ram runs at either 2400 or 3200 so 2666 will run at 2400 in dual channel. I'd use what I have. It's not worth the measurable but undetectable difference in speed. CL20 ram may be the best match for the proc but also runs hotter than CL22. Abut all in all, it's not worth the difference in price if you're not already buying it. I paid $94 on Amazon for a PC4-3200 CL22 32GB crucial kit. The Mushkin was $99.

I preordered mine with 16gb.

In what situations the 16gb vs. 32gb ram matters?

The white model indeed has a fingerprint reader. It looked like a placeholder But I cannot setup windows hello face as windows says there is no compatible camera! I am wondering if they traded off something here and had to put in a fingerprint reader. Just after setup, played a video from YouTube and audio did not work. Windows troubleshooter was able to identify it as a driver issue and automatically download and install and asked me to restart the system. Checking windows update, there were tons of pending updates and surprisingly a number of them are driver updates - Got all updates installed to avoid further glitches!
Windows Hello face recognition needs IR camera, which is not included and will cost extra. Hello fingerprint is not good enough?

Yes, I got the blue color and it does have fingerprint reader as well. Seems well built and I love the blue metallic finished.
Can you share a picture of blue laptop?. I also ordered the same color. Just curious on how it looks.

Received mine today - Let's put the memory "soldered or not issue" to rest.

Upgraded to 32gb DDR4-3200 and 1TB NVME.

NVME Drive [amazon.com]

Crucial 32GB Memory [amazon.com]

Very nice laptop, no issues so far. Laptop customized options received as ordered (backlit keyboard, HD screen and Intel wireless card). Fingerprint scanner included
Thanks for the info. Btw the 2.5" ssd is a no go right?

Also did you ordered on 11/27 and paid express shipping? If not then I will have to chat with Hp since we both received it today.

Did you have to remove the entire rubber strip in the back to access the screws or just a portion of the rubber strip? Do you have any tips on how to pry of the case or back cover? Also, I was just planning on putting in 16 gb of ram since I got a good deal during black Friday for a pair of 8gb crucial for about $48, would that be enough ram or would 32gb be better? Thanks
1. You do NOT need to remove the entire rubber stip. Fortunately the screws are in the corner. Just pry up until you see the screw to remove. I prefer not to remove the complete rubber strip as it has a tendency to expand and not fit properly.
2. 16GB is plenty. I got 32GB for $92 last week and had points on my prime card so I indulged Smilie
3. Start prying from the mid point back of laptop (see video below). Use a credit card not a screw driver.

Hope this helps

No space to add SSD drive. 1TB should be plenty for my use. I did not pay for express shipping and ordered on 11/27.
