My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.
Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!
Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

Any issues with ZOOM? Some other HP models have sound noise issue when using ZOOM.
Just tried it. Works fine but the webcam is not all that great.

Anyone have any luck overclocking the monitor on this? I ordered the 1080p IPS /w Touchscreen and it doesn't seem to want to budge over 60hz lol.

Really wish this had a hinge that could fold all the way like a convertible, but can't have it all for approx ~$450 I guess. =S
Yeah, some of the ASUS can can flip to 180 are awesome; they should make this the standard design.

I'm also interested if anyone has an overclocking resources and tips on the best bang for buck upgrades.

Can anyone who has a fast internet connection please try running an internet speed test? I have gigabit up/down and for some reason my upload doesn't go over 50mb. This is the only device with this issue.

Same issue with transferring files over the network. Max 50mbps.

Received mine today - Let's put the memory "soldered or not issue" to rest.

Upgraded to 32gb DDR4-3200 and 1TB NVME.
Monitor is LG supports HDR playback
Bios version is F10
Fingerprint scanner installed and working properly

Support "Stream HDR" only means its just a SDR panel, real HDR playback (Youtube, Netflix etc) needs all three "yes" in that windows "Display capabilities" including "Use HDR" and "Use WCG apps."

You almost got me there, am I paying $400 for a laptop with HDR panel? Too good to be true.
I assume it should be able to take any size NVME? including the ADATA 2TB NVME currently on sale?

I just went through the arduous process of dealing with HP support. They agree that my laptop is supposed to have a backlit keyboard so after deleting and reinstalling keyboard drivers and updating BIOS with no change I am to send my laptop back and they will correct the problem. Pain in the rear but hopefully it will be resolved, eventually.
What is the turnaround time they said? Mine is giving some battery error when you start. Saying some counterfeit battery error everytime you start it up. You have to bypass it all the time. I'm probably going to have to send mine back too. Are they expediting the freight? Smh.

I was able to buy almost every single hottest black Friday this year. All in all, I bought 7 different laptops and I have to say the Asus Zenbook by farrrrrr stands out in terms of quality and specs

Figured I'd chime in after about 24hrs of having my machine and using it quite a bit.

First of all, build quality and overall feel is much better than expected. I'm replacing my HP 14 laptop which I got for $279 at Costco last year. It crapped out on me a few weeks ago and Costco Concierge gave me a full refund on it. That was a plastic piece of junk compared to this.

I replaced the ssd and ram to 1tb and 32gb ram. Installed windows 10 using a newly created windows usb from Microsoft. It activated automatically. Drivers installed automatically from windows update.

It is super fast. Much faster than the HP 14 (Intel i5 1035g4) Everyday tasks are a breeze. Speakers are loud and clear. USB c charging is great. HDMI output 4k @ 60hz. USB C also outputs 4k@60hz using a dongle. Youtube 4k60 videos play instantly without any stutter.

Wifi 6 connects at 1.2gbps max. Usually connects around 920mbps. Download speeds are around 500 - 700mbps. Upload for some reason is only about 50. I have gigabit up and down. Only this device has this issue. I may need to do some further testing.

Doesn't get super hot like my previous laptop.

I also purchased an HP pavilion 14t from the Cyber Monday deal (1135g7, 8gb, 250nit 1080p touch) to replace the wife's yoga 730 and ordered another HP 14t (400nit 1080p screen) for myself. I was going to choose between that and this HP 15. I think I've made up my mind to keep this one because of the 4700u cpu being such a beast.

Very happy with this purchase.
Did you have to install any HP drivers? I just reinstall windows also on the new 1TB Samsung, but so far so good. I'm not sure if I need anymore drivers from HP.

Will never buy an Asus again after having both hinges break in less than 1 year, and numerous other people complain of the same problem (this was a purchase about 2 years ago). It looked like a great laptop and performed great at the start. Hope you have better luck with yours.

Also assuming you got the 4500u with mx350 graphics. Soldered ram, no touchscreen, 4500u vs 4700u and higher price than this.

Thanks man. I know what you're saying however, their Zenbook lineup is the only one I'd buy. The quality on the zenbook is incredible especially for the price
