My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.
Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!
Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

I too ordered with the backlit keyboard and have the button on my laptop (F10 key). But it's not turning on, the button doesn't work.

BIOS settings show options for the back light timeout, so it looks like it should be there.

so i got the laptop today and my first impression is not good. Really garbage quality. Touchpad feels so flimsy.
It's like the whole pad tilts to press the mouse button switches underneath it.
Separate buttons feel better, but without them there's room for a larger pad.

I guess they know which driver to lay off first after the Christmas rush is over.

Yup, I have the same

They really like to put the packages on the truck as weights. Also keep their employees fit by put them on and taking them off every morning and every night.

I guess any carrier company, and especially fedex, don't give a crap about what customers think. I have a really bad exp with fedex before, not expecting anything better from them.

Really nice machine. Super fast wireless. Very cheap touchpad.

The touchpad is my only real complaint so far. It does feel better than the gaming HP Pavilion deal from Walmart that kicked off the season. I think it's just the way HP builds their cheap ones. No problem with accuracy or anything, it just feels cheap.

UPS recently "corrected" my address and delivered my package to another city. huge waste of time for me contacting amazon and ups!

Figured I'd chime in after about 24hrs of having my machine and using it quite a bit.

First of all, build quality and overall feel is much better than expected. I'm replacing my HP 14 laptop which I got for $279 at Costco last year. It crapped out on me a few weeks ago and Costco Concierge gave me a full refund on it. That was a plastic piece of junk compared to this.

I replaced the ssd and ram to 1tb and 32gb ram. Installed windows 10 using a newly created windows usb from Microsoft. It activated automatically. Drivers installed automatically from windows update.

It is super fast. Much faster than the HP 14 (Intel i5 1035g4) Everyday tasks are a breeze. Speakers are loud and clear. USB c charging is great. HDMI output 4k @ 60hz. USB C also outputs 4k@60hz using a dongle. Youtube 4k60 videos play instantly without any stutter.

Wifi 6 connects at 1.2gbps max. Usually connects around 920mbps. Download speeds are around 500 - 700mbps. Upload for some reason is only about 50. I have gigabit up and down. Only this device has this issue. I may need to do some further testing.

Doesn't get super hot like my previous laptop.

I also purchased an HP pavilion 14t from the Cyber Monday deal (1135g7, 8gb, 250nit 1080p touch) to replace the wife's yoga 730 and ordered another HP 14t (400nit 1080p screen) for myself. I was going to choose between that and this HP 15. I think I've made up my mind to keep this one because of the 4700u cpu being such a beast.

Very happy with this purchase.

Yesterday's two computers came on two trucks. I asked the first guy if he had another one, he said nope, but there are 3 other trucks, it's probably on one of them. Same guy brought both of today's computers. He remembered me, and asked if the one I was looking for yesterday was one of the two he brought today. I thought that was pretty good memory for the way his job must be going this week. And while I used to have UPS ground sit on the truck for a day or two, I haven't had that happen with anybody in recent years.

Any issues with ZOOM? Some other HP models have sound noise issue when using ZOOM.

Do you guys think 256gb is good enough or should I upgrade to 500gb or 1tb nvme m.2 ssd? Looks like the 1tb nvme m.2 is going for about $140-150 on amazon.
Totally depends on your needs.
