Here's an overall price breakdown. Hopefully this will help others decide whether or not this is slick enough to jump on.

Note: These prices are based on shipping/tax for Texas (8.25%).

Normal Price Breakdown

$18.75 - 15 months of Cam Plus (billed annually at $1.25/mo)
$19.99 - Wyze Cam V3
$5.99 - Shipping for Wyze Cam V3
$3.69 - Tax (TX 8.25%)

Total: $48.42

Deal Price Breakdown

$23.88 - 15 months of Cam Plus
$0.00 - Wyze Cam V3
$5.99 - Shipping for Wyze Cam V3
$2.46 - Tax (TX 8.25%)
$1.65 - Possible tax (TX 8.25%) on free Wyze Cam V3

Total: $32.33 to $33.98

This comes out to an overall savings of $14.44 (30%) to $16.09 (33%), depending on whether or not they are charging tax on the free Wyze Cam V3.

tl;dr: If you're planning on getting a V3 and subscribing to Cam Plus for a year, I'd say this deal is pretty slick.

I received an email from wyze with a $10 code since I'm a current cam plus sub. codes are unique.

You may have heard that one of those sales is getting a free v3 with the purchase of the annual Cam Plus license that is only for first-time Cam Plus subscribers. Well, with this $10 off, you can pretty much get the same thing... 😏

Here is the math behind the promotion:

A new Cam Plus customer buys Cam Plus on the promotion for $23.88. Then, they get a coupon for $19.99 to buy a new Wyze Cam v3. They pay shipping for the v3 which is $5.99, bringing their total cost for a year of Cam Plus and a Wyze Cam v3 to $29.87 (+ tax).

You can almost get this same promotion with this $10 off code. This lets you buy a Wyze Cam v3 for $9.99 + $5.99 shipping. Then you can head over and get a new annual Cam Plus license at our current promotional price of $14.99, bringing your total to $30.97 (+ tax).

This would be $1.10 more, but you also get the added flexibility to use the $10 on whatever you want and to just buy the device.

New cam + Cam Plus for $30? Yasssss! 🙌

Use this code during checkout on Wyze.com to get your $10 off. It lasts until Dec. 15th.

Can anyone comment on the event recording vs complete 24/7 access to all video from something like Nest? I have 3 Nest cams and have gotten used to being able to check video any time (during the 5 day rolling cloud save) but worry I'd be frustrated with just clips from something like this. Has anyone used both and can compare the experiences?

Motion detection on wyze cams kinda sucks. Eufy and ring are instantaneous but you pay a little more. Indoor ring is $42 right now and eufy is around $30.
Wyze is instantaneous for me. I walk in front of the camera and get a notice right at that moment

The choice between the event recording and continuous recording is often dictated by the power source of the camera.

The Wyze cams, except for Wyze Outdoor, are powered by the AC outlet, so they can be set to either event or continuous recording. Cameras that are powered by internal batteries are usually restricted to event recordings only because these cameras cannot sustain the power demand of continuous recording.

All of our Wyze cams (v2 and Pan) are set to the continuous recording mode. We also have a non-Wyze event-only recording camera outside of our house. We use the latter because there is no power source where it is installed. The event recording is fine for our purpose in that particular spot. This camera can record up to one minute per event clip. We get the info we need with that.

However, when we receive the v3 (we have 2 on order), these will be set up outside and on the continuous recording mode because there is a power source for each. We prefer the continuous recording, but there is not always a nearby power source, and that is when we settle for the event recording because the hardware demands it.

I know that many people complain about the slow notification of Wyze's motion detection. Our Wyze cameras however never take more than ten seconds to notify. In fact, it is usually two or three seconds.

I believe those people who are complaining. Their experience is different.

The timing of motion detection notification is probably a function of multiple factors.

Buy it if you like seeing "fragment error".

It simply does NOT work

Notification latency is 11-12 seconds as well. Imagine you tie this with smart light and it lights up 12 seconds later Smilie

You missed that they give you a $3.75 credit back for each subscription as soon as your order processes. Also, you can get the shipping free if you order something else with them to get over $100. I'd say wait to place your order until around Dec 9th-ish... Wink
Why Dec. 9th?

This offer is a no-brainer. I got 5 of them. Let me fill in a few points you should consider:
  1. I got clarification from Wyze Support on this offer. They said if you use any redemption codes with this offer you probably won't get the email with the redemption code for the free Cameras (using a code on these should invalidate the offer which says you MUST pay $23.88).
  2. You can get a max of 7 (only qualify for any of this promo if you've never paid for Cam Plus)
  3. After your order processes, they give you a credit on your account for $3.75 per order (I ordered 5 so I got $18.75 credited back to my account). So, really it is only $20.13 per order (not counting shipping or taxes on the cams).
  4. The subscriptions may not activate in your Wyze account for up to 1 week.
  5. You have to order the cams separately from the subscriptions after they email you the redemption code for them (I got the email within the hour). These ordered cams won't arrive until January at the soonest.
Think about it this way. I already had 5+ cams. So I did this, got 5 of them for $20.13 each and will activate them on the cams I already have. On Dec 9th I will place an order for at least $100 and include these 5 cams and get free shipping. When the cams arrive, I will sell the new cams for more than I even paid for them (paid $20, sell for $25...they are selling for more than that on ebay anyway). That means I got 5 one-year subscriptions for FREE, and will get paid at least an extra $25 to do it. This is an AWESOME deal if you already have some Wyze Cams and want a 1yr subscription for free. It's a no-brainer. Especially since in addition to Person Detection and complete motion video cloud uploads stored 14 days, it is about to include pet, package, crying, and vehicle detection, among other things. How many $20 cameras can get all that with? Seriously guys, it's a no brainer if you qualify for it (never paid for Cam Plus before).
Big thanks for the detailed write up. Everyone likes to complain I see this as a no brainer
