I'm wondering how it works? Do you check out $20 HEB gift card together with the $100 visa card, and then $20 is deducted from the total? Or do you just check out $100 visa card, and then receive a coupon for $20 HEB gift card? Thanks!

Got mine yesterday. Even with the 5.95 activation fee, you still get $14 in free groceries. Couldn't pass that up!
How does this work? I clipped the coupon, went to HEB, did self check-out, scanned the coupon in my phone, said it accepted it, but afterwards there was nothing to indicate I'd get the gift card. It still shows clipped in my HEB app.

Last time I tried to buy a gift card at the self check, it didn't work. You should ask the self check employee how to do it before checking out or just use a regular register with a cashier.

In your H‑E‑B app, go to coupons and search gift card. "Clip" the appropriate coupon.
Later, in the store: as part of a single purchase, bring the Vanilla Visa and an empty H‑E‑B gift card to the register. Ask the cashier to load 100 on the VV and $20 on the gift card.
When it's time to pay, have them scan the barcode on the digital coupons app.

The clipped / redeemed state in the app is not real-time. (Which could indicate an opportunity to double dip? Interested for someone ELSE to check that as fact 😉)
For me in the past, I've seen it take hours to update as unavailable.

I didn't do self checkout, I went through a cashier. I got the $100 vanilla visa and an HEB gift card from a display. You have to tell the cashier that you want $20 on the HEB gift card. Then when they total it out it will be $125.95. Have them scan your coupon bar code from the app. The $20 comes off, and your new total is $105.95. Easy peasy.

Their systems are the slowest ever to update. If you find a coupon or deal, you bettr just come back at the end of the day or the next day. Cashers are usually clueless compared to any other grocery store
