He was good one week, going to get groomed and a vet visit for an eye irritation. A little more than a week later he was gone.

What's even worse is that coming up in a mere 9 days is the two year anniversary of my moms death too. So I'm so ready for this month to be over.

Doesn't get any easier.

Our Mocha is sooo chill. I keep wondering if she's okay, but's fairly active (I have a wheel with a pedometer and she runs anywhere from less than 1 mile to up to 5 miles a day)

This was one of the last pictures I took of Zeus over 11 years later when he was about 15 years old, shortly before I had to have him put to sleep.
At that time it had been over 30 years since a time when I didn't have a cat.
I made the decision then to not get any more pets, at least for the foreseeable future. I had hoped Zeus would be around for a few years longer to get me closer to when I retire, but some form of cancer shortened that dream. It has been tough to be without a cat around the house but I'm still not ready to bring home another one, though I have found myself checking out the local shelter cats online occasionally. I may change my mind someday, but one thing I want to do is travel a lot more after I retire and I don't want to have a pet back home to worry about.
Plus, if I'm being honest, the pain of losing them seems to get tougher rather than easier as I get older, and not sure how willing I am to go through it again. It has taken a lot out of me every time I have to let one go.
I've posted here each time I have lost one of my cats and I posted in the same thread about Zeus after I had him put to sleep but didn't realize right away that the thread was in the Archived Lounge so only a couple of you saw it at all. When I noticed that I just didn't have the energy to make a new thread that would show up here in the Lounge.
These are my threads in the archived thread memorializing Corey, Tugger, and Zeus:
Final Farewell to my Kitty
The Hardest Part Of Pet Ownership....
.
Sorry for your loss, btw. To me, it looked like something that could never die.
