Don't forget "Rak you 10" 8 percent cashback and 5 % PayPal cashback with Chase freedom cards. I definitely considered the HP deal going on now which is pretty awesome but chose to keep the Dell (4500U version through the earlier deal on this) over getting the HP. HP is probably a better value per dollar specs wise but better battery life on Dell and not enough performance difference between 4500u and 4700u to make me switch. This also has a fingerprint reader if that's helpful for you and from at least what I've heard better build quality. Correct me if I'm wrong but lots of questions on the HP ram being soldered or not/user upgradable whereas I'm sure this one is upgradable. I'd also give the slight nod to Dell for reliability and customer service. I do have some concern about the 220 nit display on the Dell being bright enough but I've heard it's still good enough and plenty for indoor use which is all I'll be using this for. Just one users take.

This is a deal for folks who value battery life , build quality , don't mind the difference in performance between 4500U vs 4700U , relative ease of upgrading the parts and good return policy with no restocking fees.

Other difference include USB-C charging on the Dell with PD and another slot (?) for storage.

HP is all plastic build . The equivalent Dell is Inspiron 3000 series.

If above things do not matter to you then HP by all means.

Nice. I had a dell xps 15 which charged via usb-c but it needed 130w otherwise the performance would be throttled. Hopefully this is not the case with this Inspiron.

Is the difference between 4500U and 4700U worth $115? Asking as I am debating whether to keep the walmart $379 HP BF deal that comes with 4500U or todays HP store deal $399 that comes with 4700U. If the difference in value is so much, I'll just return the walmart one.

The HP Ryzen 7 has a better processor (5-10% better on average), brighter screen, and a lower price. RAM and SSD are the same. Not sure about the upgrade ability on RAM and hard drive, but you can typically replace a hard drive on any laptop if you really want to.

If you have pre conceptions on build quality and brand you might chose this over the other. My wife is one of those who dislike HPs and has to have a Dell. I tell her the specs and price would suggest otherwise, but if it makes her more satisfied to see Dell instead of HP great! (The Placebo effect is real Smilie )

This is a solid deal, the differences in price and processor are marginal, if you think Dell is better go for it! I'm sure you'll be happy without sacrificing too much cash or too much of a performance drop.

As said in the HP Ryzen 7 thread, I've had a history of HP motherboards pooping out on me. I went with Dell for that reason... Anyways, Dell lists this USB-C charger as being compatible with this model PC:
