8GB ram and 256GB SSD.
Pretty good deal. I purchased the same laptop from Best Buy currently on sale for $949 with a 1660ti and a 1TB SSD as the only differences. Paying about $150 more to upgrade to the 2060 (and another $50 to upgrade the storage) is probably worth it to a lot of people, but I'm very happy with my purchase. Not having to spend extra to upgrade the RAM or storage is so nice on a mid-range laptop like this and the 1660ti is more than enough for my needs.

The design of the laptop is fantastic and everything about it feels nice. And the thermals are fantastic. The fans don't get too loud when doing small tasks and are only really noticeable when gaming. My temps never get too high, usually ending up in the 80s while gaming, peaking at close to 100 when I ran some benchmarks (for those who care about benchmarks, the 4800H hit a 1211 single-core and 7961 muilti-core score on Geekbench).

The display is also fantastic, haven't had any noticeable issues. Overall, a solid laptop

Edit: Will add my one real knock on it was that the GPU performance is cut significantly when running on battery. Can't really find a way around it, but as long as you're not planning to do any serious gaming when the laptop isn't plugged in, it shouldn't be an issue.

Is it fantastic though?

That's the only difference. 8gb & 256ssd doesn't worth the $200 difference. Previously was a better deal. But I am waiting on RTX 3000 series anyway.
Is RTX3000 it coming to laptops ?
Even if it arrives in Q1 2021, wouldn't it be a while before it makes it to mainstream priced gaming laptops under 1500 ?

Virtually the same. Performance is slightly higher in the Legion 5 as that is a bigger bulkier laptop with more space for cooling.

Most people got the Legion 5 4800H + 2060 deal but its out of stock now. If you value smaller lighter form factor this is the laptop to buy.
No one got that deal. It literally went OOS within a minute then appeared back after a couple of hours with a $300 hike.

HP almost had a good design, these companies need to really distance their products from the gamery look. Advertising the specs should be enough and keep the design simple.

This would be a great laptop if it wasnt so hideous.

Asus G14 has similar specs. Faster CPU 4900H with 1TB SSD for 1200. It has smaller 14 inch profile with slightly worse 120hz monitor but better build quality. If you want more portability, that might be worth taking a look at. Deal is still live.

edit: looks like this is 4800H vs 4900HS in G14 and 2060 full vs 2060 max-Q. In both cases G14 sacrifices a bit of performance for power-saving.

Wait, this was $899 2 days ago with the same coupon code. It was OOS within an hour. I don't remember the memory specs but the remaining all were the same. I missed it at that time.

Edit: the one which was at $899 was "OMEN Laptop 15-en0036nr". The current deal is on "OMEN Laptop 15z -en000"
what is the difference between the two ?

ya that deal was a sham. It started at 9 am, i added to my cart and showed Out of stock in the cart itself even before i could checkout.

They probably had like 5 coupons for all of US. A bad way to create hype. Made me more inclined to go with ASUS G14 or HP Omen instead.

How is 14 inch on ASUS similar to 15.6" on Omen ? To me that is significant size difference.

I think RAM and storage are less in the $899 one. Here is the OG link of that deal: https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/14621314

Similar performance. Smaller profile. In case you prefer more portability and better build quality, but want similar specs.

And the G14 has a terrible screen and no camera.

if you want better than RTX2060 on AMD laptop, wait until mobility 3070 released.
AMD will have 3070 and better one.

But by the time the rtx3000 series is avail, you'd need to wait for the rtx4000 series..

Then by the time the rtx4000 series is avail, you'd need to wait for the rtx5000 series..

N then just keep waiting perpetually..

I would suggest try to get asus G14 open box around 950$. It will be around 150$ cheaper than hp omen. I know there are some comprise with G14. However, it at least has best battery life and portable which is the important aspect of being a laptop.
Also, keep in mind the power brick also weighs a lot for the hp once as compare to G14.

If you really want a 2060 Omen, then this is a good deal. But the performance difference between the 2060 mobile and the 1660ti mobile isn't huge. Notebookcheck's multi game average is as follows:

Average Gaming NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile → 100%

Average Gaming 30-70 fps → 100%

Average Gaming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Mobile → 95%

Average Gaming 30-70 fps → 92%

Of course there are things a 2060 can do that a 1660ti cannot, but if those aren't important to you then you might do better with the bestbuy deal with a 1tb drive for $140 less.
