Took me a while to find a straight comparison of this tablet to the Fire hd 10.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/c..._fhd_plus/
"Keep in mind, despite having an octa-core CPU, the lack of Cortex A-73 cores makes this a mainstream SoC at best, which fits the price point well. Other devices in the same class like the Amazon Fire HD 10 (2019) have more raw CPU power due to another component choice. In practice you won't see the same difference as clearly as in synthetic benchmarks and once you compare their behavior in daily use, the Lenovo should feel better than the Fire because 2 vs 4 GB memory makes a world of difference."

I bought the smart tab M8 with dock, expecting it to be a more flexible alternative to the Google nest hub.

It was slow to respond, the low percentage of the time it actually did.
Any reason to expect this to be any better?

This isn't apples to apples, but it seems like this is better than the nest hub max while coming in at a cheaper price.

Would there be any downsides to using this instead of the nest hub max?

There's ways around that
I agree you have to install a few programs and you'll have access to Google play store on your fire device.

The big plus for the Lenovo tablet is Google Play Store. With the Fire you're stuck with the Amazon App Store, which I personally dislike. I'd go with the Lenovo one...
You can manually install Google play store on the fire device. It is very simple and there are many tutorials online you can follow

It takes 5 mins to install Amazon toolbox on a P.C. and flip your fire tablet to a android tablet, with play store. Also removes the ads, for free.
Can you flip 2GB horrible ram with 4GB as well😁

Does anyone have firsthand experience with the screen on this one? I got the M8 from Walmart, but am really underwhelmed with the screen on it. Everything seems slightly out of focus to me and the colors seem off. I realize it's a cheap tablet, but I was expecting it to be a little better than it is.

Be warned, Lenovo customer service is absolute garbage. Several of us have had nothing but trouble after purchasing the Quantum 9000 chair. I'll never buy anything from them again.

It's not on the list of supported devices. So most likely not, but stranger things have happened.
Where's this list you speak of?

Debating between this and Fire HD 10. Primarily looking to play H.265/HEVC 10bit mkv video files, surf, and mess around in Robinhood. Is this worth the extra cost? Don't know anything about the various processors but this has double the RAM.
If web browsing is big, I would go with this. The HD 10 only has 2gb ram and apps and websites still keep reloading even if you only have like 3 tabs open. This has 4 GB ram and much better screen resolution. I would buy this of I didn't already have a hd 10
