Don't ever get these trash. They're good but I bought version one expecting them to last 20 years but they just continued with smart support for all these devices and asking me to upgrade the hub now

I'm still using the gen1 hub with the latest devices. Is that what you mean?

I don't mean to be a dick, but that kinda happens with a lot of tech. The first generations often get left behind as the manufacturer figures out ways of doing things better. First gens are sometimes thought of as a mass public beta. Just the way it works for early adopters.

I have the first generation up in the lights and they do not connect with Alexa or Google home anymore due to some back end security concern that Philips decided to choose as a way of joy supporting

God forbid they discontinue 8 year old products for the sake of real progress! You can get a Gen 2.1 for non-prohibitively cheap prices anyway if you know where to look. Get real...

I completely agree with you however I do have a salty taste and there are equally as good alternatives available for much cheaper even without a sale

I don't know, I think it depends on your planned usage. I like that hue is on a hub and not every single bulb is on WiFi like most other brands. I'll stick with hue myself but I do understand your personal experience.

Ah, tricky: they changed the shape of the white-only bulbs to look like the old tunable white ambiance bulbs. Almost jumped on this thinking they were tunable white.

The smart button alone is worth $30 so then its $20 to sell the hub and then $9 for some older bulbs.

Not a fan. I had to have this at first but overall is gimmicky. And no longer use. I prefer controlled light switches and cheap non smart bulbs

I own several of their 4 button switches. I've never tried the smart button. I do like all the button option with the 4 button switch

The button can do everything the switch can it's on off and dim, unless you use the hacks with the switch and change what each does

If the 1st gen hub is the issue, DM me and I'll send you a 3rd gen hub for postage.
