Same price that it's been for the past week or so. I got it last week, stuck 16gb of RAM in there and it's a pretty solid, budget gaming laptop. Hinges are kind of weak and creak because of the plastic, but for $450, I'm not complaining.
Or those of us who telecommute, which is a lot of people these days.
60 Hz display because it's a $450 laptop, you get what you pay for. This is an incredible budget laptop.

Excellent for the price, bad screen and touch pad cheap but then again for the price, no one should be complaining. It games and it is snappy and powerful. Just find a dark corner to sit and adjust the angle of screen and attach a mouse and soon you will be feeling like a lucky bastard if you get it at this price. Walmart deal had a better screen but CPU was i5 which compared to this is feeble but adequate on its own.

Sure, I bought this set for $48 and replaced the existing 8gb stick that was already in the laptop.

I put 2 new 8gb sticks in using: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/produ...UTF8&psc=1

Works like a charm now and it really only took 20 mins or so after watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KR-hXtur_ww
Any particular reason for buying the 2 8GB sticks instead of just adding 1 more 8GB stick?

They were available for in store pickup everywhere around me for the longest amount of time.

For $150 to $250 more you can get a laptop that performs 50% to 70% better for games with a better screen and build quality.

The Gateway for $650 at Walmart with the RTX 2060 and 144hz screen was a much better buy than this and easily worth the extra $200. Even at the current $699 price, it's worth the difference.
Yes...You can Spend 50% more and get a better gaming machine.
Grabbing this one because it is really all I need.

PS - I can find computers for only $900 that are easily worth the Upgrade over the Gateway.

Figure your NEEDs...
Figure your Price Points.
Pick what fits you.

Maybe I will return it after I get it if something else comes along that hits my fancy....
One reason why I held off.....

No particular reason other than consistency. Variances can exist from manufacturer to manufacturer even if the stated specs are the same. Same reason I wouldn't replace only 1 tire on a car.

Is a 1650 still viable for gaming, or is this more a workstation laptop at this point?
1650 is pretty low ... for gaming I'd go 1650 Ti or 1660

Yeah I gave my kid a 144hz monitor and he said "meh, I cant tell the difference." They won't care until they're older. Hell, we gamed on n64/ps1 graphics on tube TVs and didn't care

If I still haven't picked up the laptop I ordered about 2 weeks ago, can I buy it again to "extend" the pickup date?

If you need to use zoom or Skype there's plenty of other laptops out there that don't require a dedicated graphics card. It's like buying a Ford F-150 just to drive you to and from work and the store but you never use the truck bed, never use the 4x4 and your not even a tall or big person to justify the size. Just get the correct tool for what you need
This! I learned the hard way. I can't just buy things just cuz it popular. I buy things because I have reasons to buy as to get my $ worth (logics; not emotion)

Price and performance will be hard to beat in a mobile form.

Expect this thing to get hot if you tax it,
