Newegg has the Intel 665p Series M.2 2280 1TB PCIe NVMe [newegg.com] on sale now for $82.99.

Hurry and grab one while supply last. I missed it last week and it went out of stock. But luckily I just found out that it's back in stock now. So I placed the order right away.

I have both. Trust me the 8200 #s are inflated. I get around 22-2400 not the 3500 they say. On Reddit people have found they swapped the controllers without telling anyone and that is the cause.
At this scale $18 is actually a pretty significant difference in price.
Google NVME overheat. This is in particular important for laptop usage or enclosure usage. Some go beyond 70 or even 80 degrees easily.

I went for the Intel 665P specifically because of the ultra low power compared to other drives, including the adata. Look at the wattage they use when active. In a laptop, I rather stick with low power drives. we're talking significant difference in power. For me, if Adata goes and swap chips like this, they need to give it a completely different model number, and for this reason, I will not buy from any company that goes and swap chip but will refuse to rename the model number, cuz it causes all sorts of confusion hell. it's just stupid really.

Also, with any drive, update the firmware asap. I had an intel 500 gig for $50 last thanksgiving...one drive failed but the other runs beautifully and I think it had to do with the firmware.

I will never buy from a brand that goes and switches parts / chips without renaming the model. Google: "Adata Switches to Slower Controller, NAND on SX8200 Pro"

Nice price, nice item but pay extra $18 for an ADATA XPG8200 on Amazon for double speed in both read and write.

Yea I read that, and I have the 8200 too. Not 3500, but constantly get 2800-3200 when moving large files. So I guess YMMV depending on what you're doing. Similarly, for this Intel SSD, you won't get 2000 as advertised. Anyhow, since this is the one stick you put into your laptop, why not pay a little extra for a much better performance?

Swapped controller and NAND.https://www.tomshardware.com/news...ler-change

But honestly it doesn't change the big picture too much. Any variant of it is still faster than the 665p. But then again it should be considering the 665p is currently 17% less expensive.

If you are looking for speed, then this probably won't suit your need. But if you are looking for reliability at the cheapest possible price, then I'm pretty sure this is one of the very few deals that will offer both. I bought the 1TB 660p for $80 from last year's Black Friday deal. That probably was the closest deal to this one.
