I purchased sub from Amazon and turned off auto renewal. This BF, I purchased sub from Bestbuy. When I tried to stack it, MS wouldn't let me. I chatted with MS support and was told that I have to wait until current sub expires to redeem Bestbuy purchase.
Same here. Hopefully I don't lose the access code by next year.

Thanks for the feedback everyone . Was going to jump on this but definitely not worth the hassle. Bought the Newegg deal recently to stack. As much as I like AMZN, I like being in control of where I get and stack my next extension.
Not a hassle at all. Just bought it and activated and took it my Microsoft account and the Office subscription got extended to one more year (from 05/2021 to 05/2022). Went to Amazon's My Membership and Subscriptions and turned off the auto renewal.

I've done this a couple of times through Amazon. When I view through Amazon it shows I have a subscription with auto renew turned off. When I view through Microsoft it shows subscription expiring in 9/2021 with no auto renew. Nothing funky going on and I plan to purchase again to extend.

Didn't I read a bit back that Microsoft was going to be making its Office apps free next year? Not sure if it was all of them or what.

Edit - just read. Online apps free now, just word download possibly free next year.

You won't lose the code. This is Amazon after all. I have about 15 keys and couple Amazon auto-renewal keys I have accumulated from past deals over the years plus a maxed sub. MS reps have assured me office codes never expire but I obviously don't take that as granted. All I can say is that every time I redeem, I use the oldest code and it has always worked.

Yeah I don't doubt they'll nevee expire, but a previous deal sent me a code in a box. My office is usually a disorganized mess so I'm worried I'll lose it that way!

Edit - actually that's dumb on my part not to just save it to a document in my one drive.

I ordered this last year and while it is a great deal I will not do it again. I received a 1-year Office 365 subscription with a new computer a couple of months ago and there is no way to add it to my account until the Amazon-managed one runs out. Lots of time wasted with MS and computer tech support with no success. Unless someone else knows a workaround, I have been told I need to let my current sub lapse to activate my new one. Perplexing why Amazon does this. Going forward I prefer to keep my purchase options open and not limit myself to Amazon subscriptions.

Same here, was a bit concerned given all the negative comments but I only had 6w to loose so I figured I'd take my chances....

I was on Amazon License earlier, set to renew on 1/23/2021, bought a new license on this deal which on Amazon says it'll renew on 12/02/2021.
Activated the new license ("Access Product") linking it to my existing Microsoft Account.

Microsoft said "Success! You've just renewed Microsoft 365"

The new expiration date is "Renews on 1/23/2022", so a full year from my old expiration date. (i.e. they stack, not just one year from today/purchase date).
To check, log in to your Microsoft account,, subscriptions, office 365, top center above "manage" in small print is new renewal/expiration date.

Amazon still indicates 12/01/2021 on the new license and 1/23/2021 on the old (shows up as two separate licenses), but as others have said, just turn off auto renewal and trust what it says on the Microsoft site instead.

I should've read comment first, I ordered and activated. Now refunded because I can't stack license from another seller until amazon sub runs out. I already had 2 years and with additional amazon license, it would expires in 2023. anyways, hopefully things will go back to normal in few days

Same here. Microsoft's Office page correctly shows the two one-year subscriptions as stacked (exp. Dec 2022). Amazon shows two one-year parallel subscriptions. My guess is Microsoft is correct about the expiration date and will trump Amazon's subscription info. Amazon is correct in showing that two subscriptions were purchased but has a bug in not understanding they're actually sequential as displayed by Microsoft's webpage.
After you order, click the "Games and Software Library" in the order confirmation email from Amazon. Then under Amazon Subscriptions, click manage licenses, then Access Product. You log into your Microsoft Account and it applies the Product Key to your account. Amazon shows my renewal date of 2-Dec 2021 (renewal for purchase), and Microsoft shows my renewal as 9-Jan 2022 (renewal for duration to use product). It's extremely easy. Then just turn off auto-renewal under Amazon. I only purchased one, but it will extend your usage of the product for however many you buy. I just prefer not to lock in too long in case I wanted to make a change for some reason. Yes, Amazon now manages the Sub. It's not a big deal or hassle in my opinion. I recommend logging into Microsoft on an iPad, tablet, or computer to see your renewal date. I couldn't get it to show on my iPhone.

I've used this deal before in the past. It is true you will be routed to Amazon if you try to manage your subscription from the Microsoft website, but Microsoft still owns and manages the subscription and determines when it expires. If you go to the Office 365 page for your Microsoft account, it will show your expiration date there. That is the date Microsoft will honor, no matter what the Amazon page says.

I purchased two of these two years ago and while Amazon did show to concurrent memberships on their site, Microsoft reflected the correct expiration date on their website. My subscription ended last month on the day indicate on the Microsoft website.

I have since added a six month subscription from another seller, but had to wait after the Amazon subscription expired because if I tried to do it while it was active, I got an error message indicating I couldn't combine the two. I just purchased this deal and added it to my Microsoft account and it did extend my existing six month membership a full year, although Amazon shows it expiring a year from now which is incorrect.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Apologies if previously shared, but a reminder that you may qualify for the Microsoft Home Use Program, if your employer is eligible, which saves you 30% annually. Not as big a discount as this deal and others, but I prefer the direct savings, and of course you can't stack and it's contingent on continued employment with the eligible employer. just an alternative to consider.

If I purchase now can I start the 1-year subscription later, like a month or so from now?

There was a previous deal with BestBuy for 3-month trial keys, and a similar issue with BestBuy taking over the subscription management. A few users indicated that it was possible to then cancel auto-renew on Best Buy, then purchase a 1-month $9.99 key from microsoft, which would then push the management back to microsoft, and allow for codes purchased elsewhere. I wondering if anyone has experimented with doing this for the currently offer? I guess the issue is that you end up paying an extra $10 for 1-month, which makes this less of a deal.
