Dang! This thing is overkill for most applications---but looking for a 1000A jump starter---anyone know of a deal? I know i missed a few of them around cybermonday/black friday

Yikes - I don't know why you had 2 thumbs down when I got here. This is the perfect jumper for a diesel, which is not overkill for a diesel at all. Here is a great review comparing it with other options. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixWPx79g3yk

I have a Gooloo 1200 and it died less than 2 years. It just won't charge. So picked up a gb50 on a recent deal to replace it. I'll see how it goes.

The premature death of these jump starters is the one single thing that has kept me from buying one. It seems to be a common cause of failure with most lithium jump starters. Pretty pricey for something that only lasts a couple of charges or a couple of years. Plus, the reliability of these units in case of emergency just isn't there, which is why a person would buy one in the first place.

I guess they can write whatever specs they want on these things. You aren't going to get 4k or even 1k amps through those 10 awg wires to the clamps.

The popular Audew jump starter is rated at 2k Amp max and looks like it is using the same or very similar wire/clamping system. It benchmarked in the low 300A max output with actual testing. Although that was enough to help start a truck and tractor with low/dead batteries.

So get a 3 yr insurance for this thing. Although, if it's dead in an emergency, it'll be no use except you'll have insurance to possibly replace it!

I have 2 gooloo jumpers and 1 noco jumper. They work when I need them to. Ive used them to jump my cars a times when the battery was bad and had to pick one up. If you top off the charge every 3 to 4 months or after you jump a car it should last you a while. I rather have a chance of starting my car than to be stranded somewhere. Definitely worth it imo. The ones I picked up was about have the price of this one since all my cars are gasoline and the amps is sufficient

I share your doubts about reliability, which is why I still have jumper cables similar to these in each of my cars:

Yeah, because the giant lead acid battery jump starters totally don't die after a year or two, no matter how you care for them.
