I have one of these. This is an unbeatable device for two COMBINED reasons:

1. It runs Android/Google Play apps (like an Android tablet would)

2. It will receive constant updates and support (like an Android tablet WOULDN'T).

Anyone who has owned an android tablet (Galaxy Tab, Fire Tablet, and even the not-bad Nexus tablet by Google) knows the lack of support and updates is one of the worst parts about them. After a year or two, they are simply out of date. Still usable? Sure. I still run an old Android gamepad emulation device that has android 4.4 on it 😂

But with the Duet being a Chromebook at heart, it will receive updates for many years to come. Will you replace it before then? Probably. But I got sick of $200 Android tablets getting one OS update, and then going away. I believe the Google anticipated out of service date (not sure what they really call it) on this device is 2028 or something crazy like that. If they are still updating this in 7 years, I'll be super pleased.

So will they? Well, I have a Chromebook that I've been using for about 5 years now, and I just got notification that updates on it will end next year. 6 years for a $150 laptop is decent. If I get that out of this tablet, I'll be happy.

Is this a great laptop? Nooooo... The keyboard is small and it's flimsy with the keyboard attached. It will suffice for light use though. The mouse pad is fine, the keys feel nice, but 10" is a small screen too. When closed, the keyboard/case isn't super sturdy and won't protect much against a drop, but it will protect the device's screen while in your bag.

As an "Android tablet" though (since it runs Google play store apps) - there is absolutely nothing that beats this at this price. I had an iPad for a while because no other android tablet offered the price, quality and support this does. I gave the iPad to the GF (its still a great device, but I'm a hardcore android/Google user).

If you have been interested in an Android tablet at all, THIS is what you want.
Have the 64GB model. Mainly used by my son (9) for school. He loves it and it's the perfect size for him.

I've used it several times. Works great for browsing, light photo stuff, and using a terminal to connect to my home lab. The keyboard is very cramped for my hands (fairly large, my work laptop is a Dell Latitude 7400 and I find it cramped as well) but I can manage with relatively few typos.

It's certainly not the fastest device out there but I find it perfectly acceptable (and to be honest, faster than expected).

Lenovo - if you're out there - build a 12" version with a faster proc, 8GB of RAM and a bigger keyboard and keep it below $500 and I'll buy at least 2.
This a neat chromebook computer, often called the poor man's Surface Pro. Its a tablet with a magnetic back that has a kick stand. It comes with a detachable keyboard (that is not as slick as the Surface book pro.) I take this tiny computer when there is a slight possibility that I need to work on the road. Its small, its light, its portable and namely its cheap enough to lose or break.

Chromebooks are great for web browsing, doing light Google Docs work and facebook. This is different from a PC, if you need a PC get a PC for your lightroom, excel, microsoft word, zoom & teams.

If you are looking for a chromebook that you can work on your lap, look for something else with hinge and no kickstand.

If you need a computer for casual web browsing, get this. Its one of my favorite on the go portable computers. I like this better than my surface pro 7.

Does anyone that have this can comment usability for typing and any daily productivity tasks? Or is the better youth case utilizing touch screen navigation?

Can't beat the price based on so many high reviews. May not have everything, but 128GB, plus the 70 bucks off, keyboard...had to snag one. Note, keyboard and stand attach magnetically and only port is 1 USB-C which is used for charging, and for the included headphone dongle.
Thanks OP!

Based on all the reviews I've seen the keyboard is pretty cramped because it's only a 10 inch tablet. With only 4GB of RAM you can do productivity, but multitasking will get a bit rough if you open too many things.

Correct, I read the same review cons. Wife wanted it for viewing music to play and for her Google games, so it'll work for her. If you have very large hands, the keyboard may not even be usable. Still good deal.

Of course, or you can buy a $20 USBC hub on Amazon and attach just about anything you want to this including a television and multiple USB ports.
