How's night in the woods? Is the quirky animation supposed to carry the weight or does it have actually good gameplay/story?
i read a few reviews that say the characters are just boring normal people with normal boring problems and the dialog isnt very good, game not very fun despite the fun visuals

It's not only Epic launcher but the most of game launchers like Steam and apps/program launchers like Zoom do run background unless you manually kill it or change its settings.
So it's not fair statement Epic launcher running background causes CPU overheating.
I've been using Epic launcher for many years and haven't observed any issues.
You will be surprised how many apps/ programs are running background without you knowing it.
It shouldn't be an issue that it hangs around running in the background as many apps do, but apparently it's having a weird interaction with some Ryzen CPU's- utilizing more resources than it should and making the CPU run hotter. I scrolled past the headlines as I don't have any Ryzen machines myself, but anyone that does should google more about it

"One of my favorite video games. While there isn't much to the game in terms of core gameplay (jump on platforms and explore the town- easy enough) the story, dialogue, and rich lore of Possum Springs will keep the player engaged. Night In The Woods takes a look at serious topics such as mental illness, the stages of early adulthood, the power of nostalgia, and the emptiness we all sometimes feel while also maintaining a wonderful and real sense of humor throughout. Some of us either know someone like Mae, or possibly relate to her, ourselves. Also, the mini games throughout are all pretty fun, particularly the game-within-a-game "Demon Tower," (a hack and slash style dungeon crawler) and playing the bass which involves rhythmically pressing buttons, reminiscent of Guitar Hero. There hasn't been a game that I've enjoyed or related to so much in a long time, I'd definitely recommend it. Also, the soundtrack is amazing, and I know I mentioned the dialogue already- but, wow, it's well written. The characters all come off as pretty relatable and realistic, considering they're all 2D cartoon animals. That's all I've got. Gregg rulz ok." - Gamer review
Thanks for the info Babe

Why attack millennials? Why do they always get the blame? Even if so which generation failed them as parents?
You're assuming I meant parents. But regardless though, it takes at least two individuals for the education process to work; one to teach and one to learn.

Doesn't matter if it's parents or teachers or piss in the water. If there's something wrong with the "kids these days" it's squarely on the prior generations for mucking it up. That's how responsibility works.
Yes and No. To a point, you have to take some personal responsibility. But I also understand the nurture aspect of that statement. You're coming from of the least educated generations to the most educated. Plus growing up with the internet and availability of information readily to speed up learning. It's truly remarkable the advantages from a personal education perspective that is possible and plenty of third world countries reap the benefits.

I saw another article that said this is happening to Intel chips as well so it isn't isolated to Ryzen machines. That said, my 5600x is running at 36degrees even with Epic launcher running so I don't think it is the issue with "heat", BUT Epic launcher does use 4% of CPU consistently compared with 0.1% of most of the other "launchers" - Steam/GOG which I also have running. That is 40x more CPU utilization and that IS concerning. (along with 14x more data transmissions)

Yeah, individual responsibility is complicated, but if a whole generation is screwed up, it's because something happened to it.

I don't think there's anything "wrong" with millennials anyway. That "feeling" is just a feeling.

Anyway, to get back to the topic, night in the woods was reviewed positively by Yahtzee:
https://v1.escapistmagazine.com/v...nds-Review
Randomly shoved onto the end of a Ghost Recon review as a "Hey you don't need to play boring triple-A shoot-em-ups! You can play a game with a story instead!!"
