It's a bit confusing because it says seller refurbished and manufacturer refurbished. Seems like a decent savings though, and mine was in like new condition last time I bought.

That would be illegal, no? I would expect you'd have to return the same serial number product.
I bought this a few months ago. When it works, with strips and lights around your TV/living room or bedroom, it's great. However, for me that was 20% of the time. If you also care about high fidelity HDMI gaming, etc. - perhaps wait for a more fully fleshed out second version or iteration of this box. I ended up returning ultimately
What setup are you talking about? All you did was provide a 30 second clip. All the options that are DIY require a lot of technical knowledge to setup. Just to add a lot of these examples like hyperion do not support content that have DRM.

Your own terrible example provides not guidance on where to go other than some outdated websites.

I have a Yamaha receiver with two hdmi outs. One goes to tv. The other goes to the hue play. I run all my inputs through the receiver. So my hopes are this works.I believe I've read others have hooked up like this.
yes, this is the correct way.

Any issues with this setup with hdr+ or dolby vision? Are you using light bars? How many?

Didn't Dreamscreen close down... Like out of business? Where can I check it out, do you have a link?
The founder of Dreamscreen sold their tech to Philips Hue's and closed their doors, which imo produced an inferior product. Their gradient strip only supports 7 colors at a time, and doesn't cover the bottom portion of the TV. I use a Dreamscreen for my TV back lighting and Hue's that go across my TV stand for music mode, super happy with my setup.

I'm part of a Dreamscreen FB group though and there's a few people working on a replacement for it that's closer to $150 with everything included (sync box + lights), should have something out within the next year or so.

Would this work with HDMI (e)ARC, with the TV sending audio back to the receiver? It doesn't seem like there's a way to get the TV's video to the Philips light box (using a "smart" TV's built-in streaming apps)

What a joke. The installation video is about the only source where I can actually get a look at what the whole system consists of. No price info too. The led strip in the video is dim as shit barely lightning up 6" zone around the TV set.
Philips sync is definitely overpriced for what it is (at MRSP) but have you seen how Philips hue play or Gradient strip actually fills the room with light?

Well! It seems mine arrived DOA. My Apple TV remote was able to wake my TV, but that's about it. When I tested the box with my PC, the PC wouldn't recognize a monitor plugged into it with any HDMI port. Asked if I could get a replacement.

I'm taking this refurbished one back to best buy where I got my new one from last week. Best of both worlds

The Phillips Hue community has some really bad apples that constantly brag about this type of activity on Reddit. I called someone out on it and they deleted their comment. Pathetic, if you can't afford certain things don't buy it!

Did they end up giving you another box? Also, do you not need a connected light strip to confirm that it works? I'm waiting for a deal on gradient light strips but I need to confirm mine works before the return window closes.

FYI, if blinking/flashing yellow, means the device is set up on another network (mine was).

Can reset by holding in the power button (the shiny button on the front) for about 10 seconds until it flashes blue or purple (can't remember atm).

and also, oddly, I had to literally have my phone on top of the device (it says 1ft away) to being the set up.

Yes, they were quick to send me a return label and offer a replacement!

I already have Hue color lights to use with it. I use the Hue Sync app on my PC for the same purpose. It doesn't need to be the light strip.

However in my case, I knew it wasn't working because the video simply wouldn't pass through the box.

So my sync box doesn't auto connect. I repeatedly have to log into the app then have it "connect" also why is there a separate app than the other hue?

I have this connected behind an AVR I to a samsung tv. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong?
