I've read before that it's possible to pay off the phone and still get bill credits (as long as that line remains open for the life of that EIP); however, when I contacted 611 yesterday, I was told that all bill credits will stop if I pay off the phone early.

Please let me know if you pursue this further and can confirm either way. Thanks!
It is not true that the credit will stop if the phone is paid off early. I paid mine off early and still receiving the credit. I read on t-mobile website that the credit is issued at the account level.

I was told I would have to add a line and trade in phone.
But that makes no sense why would you trade a phone in if you can get the deal by just adding a line with no trade in.

The promo reads:
Get a OnePlus 8T+ 5G or OnePlus 8 5G for free via 24 monthly bill credits when you pick it up on T-Mobile's interest-free equipment installment plan (EIP) and either activate a new line on a qualifying plan OR trade in an eligible device.

Did you contact customer service? if new line needed, I even not bother trying it
This is what customer service on Facebook just said:
Me:
So the $554 in monthly bill credits won't show on the order review page? When and how will I be sure to get the bill credits? Thanks

Rep:
Great questions! You won't see the $554 until after we have assessed the condition of your trade in, since the estimated value may change. If the estimated trade in value does change, then we adjust the remaining amount so that you are still getting the $750 total.

Typically though, you know that you are successfully enrolled in a promotion when you are sent a text message confirming your enrollment. Additionally, you would see the name of the promotion in your T-Mo app or through the MyT-Mobile website. Give it a few days to pop, but it will most certainly be there!

That's what I said. Even took a picture of it and sent it to her over twitter. She said I could get 50% off if I didn't add a line. I'll just try again later

They want you to either pay for a new line of service (presumably $20/mo for most people for 24 months) or keep your existing lines and "pay" a bit by trading in your old device. My old phone is worth much less than I'd pay in an extra line for 24 months so I chose to trade in.

Clarifying note: "Add a new line to your eligible plan OR trade in a qualifying device in good condition"

The current title of simply "Free OnePlus 8 5G or OnePlus 8T 5G - $0" is a bit misleading.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic
Definitely misleading.
So only way to get it really for FREE is by adding a new line.

Looks like I could get up to $375 for my 6t.
What's the actual price I would have to pay on top of that to get 8t?
Is it 750-375 or there are other fees and whatever included?

Doesn't seem like worth it, my 6t is still doing very well.

Anybody who has purchased online, did T-mobile require you to input the trade in phone IMEI at time of purchase? I need to acquire an S9 for trade, was wondering if I need the phone in hand before I can buy the new one.

This is what t-mobile rep told me via chat:

"You won't get the remaining RDC that you currently have for the 7T if you trade it in. If you pay if off and hang on to it you will continue to get those credits, but if you trade it in, then you will get the credits for the new phone for the new promotion."

I don't understand why this is so hard for some to understand.

You can get 8t+ for free by either 1) adding a line OR 2) trading in an eligible device on the list.

It's very simple.

Buy a s9 for 200$, trade in s9 for 8t. Sell your 6tv in after market for 100-150. It's pretty much free then. At least you future proof yourself for the next 2 years

I'm in the same boat and I'm doing this right now..
