Is there any point in grabbing this if you've already got Steam Link devices?

Just bought a laptop with a 2070 card. Was reading that you can play stream PC games to your TV with this. Anyone do this or have a comment on it? Thanks
I have used steam link as well geforce now. The last time I tried it there was a bit of perceivable lag when I was using a mouse, but using a controller was less noticeable for me. I used ethernet through my house to a desktop pc for maximum quality.

Are you saying the your Shield 2017 got updated with the AI upscale? Or do you have the newer 2019 Shield (this is the one on sale in the post).

I just checked the shield subreddit, the official nvidia forums and didn't see anybody mentioning this.. and it would be a HUGE deal if they did this. I checked for updates on my Shield and it said no updates as of 12/14/20.
I have the 2017 model and got this update: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/shie...nJ3johfNmw

as mentioned below by @voiddweller.

Getting 35 bucks off with random instacart promos... Is this worth upgrading from a Google TV?

I bought the 2017 version with the remote and game controller for $139.99 on a FP deal here two years ago. I remember messing around with Windows 10 and its HDR. Got the Shield and never looked back. One of the best devices streaming 4K HDR from my PC. It's crazy to think how much the new one is (and without controller) at $180 and is FP. I heard the upscaling to 4K is pretty nice, but not worth the upgrade from the 2017 version unless you really need Dolby Vision, etc.

This device is awesome.. when it works. I've had one completely die on me, and then on my second one, the remote quit working after a couple of weeks. You can use an Amazon Firestick remote with the shield, since it's Bluetooth, but it's not as good as the regular remote imo. Make sure you save your receipt if you want any chance of using your warranty through Nvidia.

Also on sale at Amazon. It's $181.99 there but if you're like me and have a Amazon Prime Credit card, the 5% back makes this a better deal.

Can the PS5 or xbox series X do what this can do?
The Xbox can do all the streaming apps. There's some things it doesn't do I believe like AI upscaling. I replaced my fire tv with an Xbox series x basically.

That update states that the 2019 (not 2017) Shield got an update to add 60Hz AI Upscaling (it already had 30 Hz AI Upscaling). It didn't say the 2017 received AI Upscaling.

It would have been great if they did add it to the 2017, but it hasn't and most likely will never happen. They'd lose their main reason to sell upgrades if they did.

Love it. 100x better than Fire Cube, Mii Box, everything else I've used.
Agree, bought it last year at this price, it's been solid
