That update states that the 2019 (not 2017) Shield got an update to add 60Hz AI Upscaling (it already had 30 Hz AI Upscaling). It didn't say the 2017 received AI Upscaling.

It would have been great if they did add it to the 2017, but it hasn't and most likely will never happen. They'd lose their main reason to sell upgrades if they did.

Not hot garbage to people even remotely tech savvy. Also pretty hilarious that you compare a $500 device to a $200 device. Stick to the basics where you belong, kiddo.

Thanks! Been waiting for this to drop all month! Stacked it with a 10% coupon and free gift certificates they were giving away in promotional emails recently.

I have the previous generation and I get HDR10 + Dolby Atmos out of it. Never had issues with it. It just got updated today, they added 4K 60fps AI scaling.

Love it. 100x better than Fire Cube, Mii Box, everything else I've used.

Any other reason to get this model over the previous generation after the update?

Are you saying the your Shield 2017 got updated with the AI upscale? Or do you have the newer 2019 Shield (this is the one on sale in the post).

I just checked the shield subreddit, the official nvidia forums and didn't see anybody mentioning this.. and it would be a HUGE deal if they did this. I checked for updates on my Shield and it said no updates as of 12/14/20.

Just bought a laptop with a 2070 card. Was reading that you can play stream PC games to your TV with this. Anyone do this or have a comment on it? Thanks

The previous generation was the 2017 model. This is the 2019. It has AI Upscaling and it's not backward compatible.

I think you're referring to the 30FPS to 60FPS with some additional enhancements update: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/shie...re-update/

Yes. It's awesome.

As with most implementations, it works best over Ethernet.
