Wanted to add. The 1hp does take a lot of space. So if you keep cleaners or anything below cabinet. Keep in mind you will lose a good amount of space.
These are the only disposals we trust in our rental properties. We have some installed 10+ years ago with zero issues.
I believe the 1-hp is the lowest model that comes with a "LifeTime Warranty".
I bought one of these and the reduction in sound vs the "builder's disposal" was amazing.

As can always happen, a couple years after we bought it, we flipped the switch, there was a literal puff of smoke, and it was dead.

So I looked up how to do warranty call....it was as simple as getting some numbers off the disposal and calling a number. I believe I was on hold for less than 5 minutes, answered a few very brief questions, and a new unit was on the way to me. And if I had needed a plumber/electrician to replace it....they would reimburse up to $100 if I recall. However, I was able to do that myself.

No more issues.....

I tell the story less that it "broke", but rather it was one of my best experiences ever in dealing with warranty issues.......No Empty Warranty Promises with this company...

We purchased a 1hp two years ago when renovating. My theory was why not for the price. HP depends on how much and what type of stuff your disposing. I only had problems with major chunks of meat. It will take it, but not all at once. Suppose to take bones, but never attempted. Only issue we had was later down the pipes, any starch products have the potential to mush up and solidify in the pipes. So rice and potatoes go straight into trash now.

I am not very handy so requesting help from someone who is an expert in this area

I currently have InSinkErator Badger 1 1/3-HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal. If I wane replace it with the Waste King L-111 Garbage Disposal with Power Cord, 1/3 HP. Would it fit ? or what do I need to check ?

Can I go for a bigger capacity model like the 1 HP ? or 1/2 ?

Thanks in advance

See the 2nd diagram on the product page; shows you exactly what to expect from the different models and horsepower.
Hope this helps.

yes most likely as disposal drain should be about same height as old one. I wouldn't go with the 1HP size without doing some measurements though just in case.

Also the mounting solution to bottom of sink is different on waste king and imo not really the easier option. Probably worse long term mounting option too, The 2600 at least is better than a base model Insinkerator though in my experience.

Yes this. The footprint of the 1hp disposer is huge. When we renovated our kitchen 2 years ago, the installer had some trouble installing it because of the size. Otherwise it's a great disposer with no issues.

I have installed two L-2600 1/2 HP models in my houses and highly recommend. It was well worth it even at $78. These are very quiet, but larger than the comparably-powered Insinkerator model, so check your dimensions.

Previous posting:

"I have replaced 2 ISE with Waste King (1 hp) and recommend the WK mount over the ISE.

Much quieter disposal.

2 peeves:
1. Waste King used to be limited lifetime warranty, but WK bought by Moen and that's no longer there. I believe the 1 hp I purchased are now "20 year warranty"
2. The WK plastic casing (for sound insulation) interferes with the pipe mount--you have to angle it in and then bolt it down.

The WK is larger, heavier, but I do recommend.

Make sure you take pic(s) of your piping so you can remember how to reinstall it."

Current listing still says "Limited lifetime warranty" for the L-8000.

If you have every replaced a garbage disposal yourself, you prefer them to last longer than the 4 to 8 years for the ISEs (aka "plumber's friend"). This is much quieter than the ISE b/c of the insulation casing. Agree it is much larger and takes up more space.

Interesting. I installed one in my house last year, and it started leaking a few weeks ago.

That said, their warranty department was great and I got a new one shipped to me with no problems at all.

Just be aware that if you have a dishwasher that plugs into your disposal, there's a plug you have to remove for the connection.

Most drain collars are similar. When I replaced my disposal, I was able to use the existing collar and just snap the new unit in and connect the wires/pipes.
