I have a Rylo (which has since gone out of business). I just use it for taking 360 photos. I rarely do video. It's nice to get a few 360 photos while on vacations just because they're fun to look at. I also like to submit them to Google maps. For me it's mostly a novelty that is fun to have, but that's about it.
Software varies among manufacturers. As far as I know it's not really universal. I'm sure there are others with a lot more experience, but that's my 2c
I'm interested in this but found this review. Can't vouch for it but seems like a factor in making the decision to purchase. 1 of 2 reviews total on Walmart.

The manual indicates that the definition is 2 MB, not 16. It shows - the pictures are ultra grainy. The application that you need to download for it does not work on Android 10. I managed to make it work on an emulator on a PC. The file format stored on the card is not standard, so you really need the application (again, on the emulator) to convert them to a standard format. In a word: I would not use this device if it were for free."

What do you use them for?
Software universal/easy?
has seemed cool, and at the new lower prices of cameras I'm tempted but not sure of learning curve to get the polished outputs I've been wowed by in commercials

I have a gear 360 camera. It can be handy for taking jobsite photos. If I had a higher-end 360 camera I would probably use it more as an action cam.
Not many reviews for this at all. It looks like it only works with older software that doesn't even work with Android 10. Not sure it's a good deal if you really can't use it due to the format not being supported by anything other than the software that is outdated.

I've used mine to shoot a few weddings and on vacation. They're fun if you have a VR headset to watch the 360 videos.
Each camera usually comes with its own software to stitch and output the video in a format suitable for uploading to YouTube. There are some mobile apps that can ingest the video and let you do casual edits. I've used Collect, which works well, at least on Android.
I have the Gear 360 and use it when my family and I are out on a bike ride or just out for a walk. The other night I mounted on to of our car as we were driving through a Christmas Light display. It's also great to add to Google maps a 360 view of an intersection and what not.

I recently bought a Madv Mini 360 camera that hooks up to your android phone for $20. It's fun toy and can take some neat photos that you can't really get with a normal camera. If you want to take little planet photos or just really wide angle shots, these are great! If you want to use it to stabilize your video footage, you're gonna be looking at something that costs more like $300-$500.

VR equipment has become ridiculously cheap compared to past years, and 360 cameras are a fun way to re-live a time and place. Use that idea however you want. I travel a fair amount of travel, and go to very unique places, so filming in 360 degrees is fun. You can go back and look at it with VR glasses and see everything around you.
I have a Vuze VR camera that also does 180 degree 3D, and it looks amazing. Brings back good memories.
Anyway, I may get one of these and use it as a 360 degree camera for my motorcycle. If I mount it on the back, I can record 360 degrees (aside from my body blocking angle), which I would think would help if I was in an accident.

Let's say you're at any event - wedding, birthday, etc.
You point your camera at the bride and groom for a picture for first kiss, but now miss the reaction of the entire crowd. 360 camera like this, Ricoh Theta, Insta360, etc, you get everyone in sight with your photo or video. No need to point the camera at the subject anymore- only need to make sure everyone you want to capture is visible.
