Nice, I tried and tried to find an open box for this a couple weeks ago. Glad to see it came back, though I think the open box prices are a little higher than last time, at least I actually got one. Got Excellent at 690

I actually just opened best buy cart cause I was going to pull the trigger on the Dell G5, but happened to have still had the Omen in my cart from a couple weeks ago, and was surprised to see it was available again. Hope I made the right choice with the Omen.

The laptop to keep an eye on at BB is the $1,349.99 upgraded version of this $849.99 laptop. The $1,349.99 laptop was on sale during BF for $949.99 with open box prices getting as low as the mid $600's to the mid $700's for "Excellent".

BB excellent or certified conditions work well? I've never gotten refurbs from them.

Just one person's experience: I bought an 'Open Box - Satisfactory' HP Pavilion 16.1 awhile back. It all looked perfect but long after the 15 day return period had expired we learned the web camera was defective when trying to use it for Zoom school lessons. Luckily we had a spare old laptop with a working webcam to use. Meanwhile I opened a support case with HP online where the agent remotely verified the problem and then arraigned for me to send in the laptop for repair. After ten days the laptop came back fixed with a new webcam! Key take away: open box items are most likely still under HP's warranty but the warranty expiration date needs to be verified (use the HP Support Assistant app to look it up) before the Best Buy's return period expires.

Can anyone who already has this laptop check the BIOS to see if there is an option for HDD password? I'm considering purchasing this, but need to add a Self Encrypting SSD which requires that option in BIOS. Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately according to this HP supplied OMEN BIOS simulator that option is not present.

However an updated BIOS version F.14 Rev.A was released on 8/3/2020 with the following information:

Thank you. According to that link, there is no HDD password option, although that seems to be an early 2019 BIOS and for Intel versions. I'm guessing the newer AMD specific BIOS doesn't have that option either. Oh well.

I just received an "Open Box Excellent Certified" which is supposed to be "professiinally cleaned" but obviously wasn't cleaned after being returned by the original owner. The laptop came in the original box but was missing half the foam inserts, so it kind of flopped around when the box moved. This box was just placed into another larger box with no packing material. Other than that, the laptop seems great so far.
