I also went with $39 on iTunes for the extended versions. Was concerned that iTunes only indicates HD but can confirm that it transfers to MA (Movies Anywhere) which shows 4K / Dolby Vision. Maybe at some time later, iTunes will automatically upgrade to 4K.

"Trilogy" means three, the wording does not state more than three Hobbit films.
