Wow great deal. You could use the S20 as a stepping stone to the S21 by trading it in next year. You may even get more than $400 trade in credit.

It's unlocked, but you need to stay in fi for 90 days to get your $600 discount

I chatted with one of them yesterday, and she insisted that GV is not eligible. Not sure if we should believe any of it. But I also don't want to risk loosing $600.00 discount.
Second rep: Oh ok, cool. At this time existing Google Fi numbers and Google Voice numbers don't qualify for the promotional requirements.

It is. But when I ordered, in my billing promo details, there is a "step" for "transfer number to fi" after "activate". I am hoping that just means activate on current number.
I haven't gone through checkout yet, but I asked on chat, clearly, whether this works for existing customers on existing lines. The rep said "Yes, you will definitely get the discount" if you activate it on your line within 30 days of the shipping confirmation and leave it active for 90 days. I saved a screenshot just in case I run into trouble.

Could you purchase a cheap prepaid plan (ie. Mint) and then port the number out to Fi?

This is exactly what I am thinking of doing. Essentially find the cheapest SIM with a new number and have it activated as soon as possible, then get the account info for port out (this step may take a day or two for the account info to fully register into the carrier's system), and port that number to Fi for the deal.

You can either listen to Fi CSR, or check the old Pixel 4a and Note20 Threads.
Bunch of people claim to port a Google Voice #, and the Port Requirement was satisfied.

There is nothing that explicitly says GV numbers are disqualified. When I try to buy this phone and put my GV number, it shows a green check mark and also warns me that hangouts will not be associated with my GV number anymore.

Reps are not correct as always. Existing customer need to add new line by port in from other carrier. If you are in existing promo like 4a 5G wait to complete 60 days. By default this promo is only for port in from other carrier. Few are reported GV numbers are eligible but not sure. I am with Fi under 4a5G promo and remaining 18 days to finish 60 days.

U can use with another carrier you just can't use the Google fi sim thst the phone comes with on another carrier .
So I can pretty much get this phone, then activate the Fi sim while it's in the phone so it tells Google I'm all kosher, then pretty much remove the SIM, and insert my main SIM and use the phone? So the Fi SIM does not need to remain in the S20 for 90 days (just an active Fi SIM with plan)??

Similar question but this is cheaper than Mint.
