This seems like a great deal for a 1:10 scale Monster Truck RC car with 4WD. The size is huge and even shows that person can stand on it -- so it seems durable. Comes with two batteries for 40 minutes of usage.

Even more wild, the car is submersible and can drive in water!

I previously bought the Granite Voltage RC car for $60 but that broke in one day. That one was also only 2WD, but this one is 4WD

Make sure you clip the coupon for the $50 discount. Competitors appear to sell this in Walmart and ebay for over $200.

Seems the normal price is $130 and for some reason you can get the car with an extra battery for $125. It looks super cool - anyone have feedback?

I feel like you'd have much more enjoyment out of a hobby grade product, with replacement parts for the same $99. Something like the Arrma Granite Voltage 2wd (link below) with oil filled shocks and easily found, at your local hobby shop, replacement parts. You will get burned out on a hobby if you purchase non-dependable products and waste $99 on something that gets put on a shelf in the garage in a week or two when you can not repair.https://www.towerhobbies.com/prod...02727.html
Update 01/10: Hmm, the Arrma Granite Voltage 2wd (hobby grade with parts available at your local hobby shop) and reviewed in magazines like RC Car Action is also available on Amazon for $99 and you can add 3 yr protection for $10.99. That seems like a great deal. https://www.amazon.com/ARRMA-RC-M...486&sr=8-6

As someone who is heavily into RCs, all I can say is this is a toy grade rc truck. It doesn't have proportional steering and I highly doubt it has proportional throttle control. More than likely, the suspension isn't all that great either. This is basically the equivalent to something you'd find at Walmart, but this is amphibious. For the price, there are better fully waterproof hobby-grade rc trucks out there, however, they are in smaller scale. If something breaks, you'll have a hard time finding replacement parts. If anyone is up for the task, they could improve upon this truck and install hobby grade electronics and a steering servo without too much trouble. You could take it even further; upgrade the shocks to oil filed shocks and throw some hobby grade tires on it.

With all that said, a young kid would have a blast driving this. Just keep your expectations low and you shouldn't be disappointed.

Not having

"Proportional steering
And
Proportional throttle"

Kills the deal

Replacement parts is another reason but not for me, I'm not into replacing batteries etc.

Any entry-level recommendations for a 4x4 RC with the features you noted? Appreciate the expert viewpoint. The price on this seems good for feature set but I agree if it's not easy to drive and cannot be repaired easily, then this is a waste of $ when it breaks. My kids have received a few cheap RC cars that get banged up pretty easily outside and then I am stuck attempting to glue cheap plastic pieces together and make it work again... usually ends up in the trash.

Hobby-grade means a lot to various people. I'm not ready to put a kid behind the wheel of a $1500 car with carbon fiber, electronic speed controls that are programmable, Futaba radio, titanium turnbuckles, metal gear servos, and advanced brushless motors. My dad made that similar mistake with me when he bought a Team Associated RC10 for me. He took it out most of the time, while I stood by and watched.
This is an RTR-grade car. As the commenter above stated, you'll probably not be able to find replacement parts (thus being more of a toy and not a hobby car) I think it fits its purpose though. In for one!

P.S. I miss Associated Electrics before they were bought by Thunder Tiger Corp. I drove out to Costa Mesa, CA just to see where it all originated.

As everyone has already said.. DO NOT BUY... this is nothing like what the images show
  • No proportional steering or throttle
  • extremely slow
  • the images are incorrect.. its a 1/10 scale truck.. the images are making it look like a 1/5 scale.
  • if you break it.. no replacement parts, and its junk immediately
  • its not not worth $100, let alone $150
For the same price, i would get the Arrma voltage.. yes, you have to pay for the battery, but its going to be much faster, and much higher quality..

Item is typical Walmart RC car.

If you want much better quality for VERY close to the same price look into Latrax
119$ RTR

Retail is 129$ and they are miles and miles above in quality from the one posted above. Replacement parts, upgrades etc are readily available

This coming form a man with multiple RCs, some with thousands into it and others that I have less than 200$ in and my kids play with often. I'd not recommend anyone wasting their money on this.
