Went to Target in my area because they allegedly had a physical copy for $49.99 and they didn't have any. Went to the Wal-Mart nearby and they had a few copies with no price showing on the case. Rang up for $44.88 which is the lowest price I have seen this game on the switch. Brickseek link below. It has been 20+ years since I worked at Wal-Mart, but I believe that anything ending in 0.88 is a clearance item.

the ps4 version is already cheaper at $40 full price.

this will be like the ni no kuni releases on ps4 and switch. the switch copy will stay expensive while the ps4 version will be $15 within a year.

for dragon quest 11s, the ps4 version will obviously be able to render at 1080p 100% of the time. i'm pretty sure the switch one has dynamic resolution that maxes out at 720p.

get the switch one if you absolutely need handheld play. otherwise, just wait for the ps4 copy to go on sale for $15 and save $30 to buy 2 more ps4 games that go on sale lol

they ported the switch version to ps4. you're thinking of the original release on ps4. i'm comparing 11s on switch to the newly released 11s on ps4. same features, orchestra music, 16 bit, etc is all on ps4 now

It looks like the MSRP for this on Switch has been dropped from $60 to $50 so I would say this will become the new everyday in-store price at Walmart locations. This does not appear to be clearance from what I'm seeing.

One local store shows $29.00, but OOS. Most stores are $44.88 or $49.94 around me.

Have you ever worked at Wally World? Usually if the price is ending in $0.88 it is on clearance. I don't think that has really changed much in the last couple of decades. I've seen them take a dollar off of an item that was being clearanced. Typically an item that is clearanced at Wal-Mart is one that is simply not being ordered any longer from the vendor so the price is lowered to go through the remaining inventory. Used to be at one point that if it was clearanced, it ended with the 88 cents to let employees know it wasn't a restockable item.

Apart from Spyro (which that has been the regular price for the longest time) the others are recent releases, and all are still actively stocked. Maybe the aforementioned price suffix had the significance you suggest back in the day but it does not in this day & age. Unlike GameStop's .97 suffix for designating a clearance item, offhand I can't think of an analogous convention that Walmart uses.

edit: possibly double zero's judging from my clearance purchases there over the past year, but not entirely certain as to how universal this is

Additionally, it's on Xbox Game Pass and has xbox/pc cross buy with Xbox Play Anywhere.
