[QUOTE=ocotillo;144514300]Tracfone is very good for people that do not need a lot of talk time or data as they can have a phone line for under $10/month./QUOTE]

I've been getting a year for about $40, so it's about $3.35 a month to have a phone I can use to call for towing if my car breaks down, or to be able to call relatives a bit from the road if we are on vacation.

Unsure of what to make of it. Currently have a Umidigi Power 3 but of course they rarely update it and newer ones are coming. This things still on 10 will it goto 11? Using Tracfone here so idk this would be pointless I suppose

Got this message from tracfone for my iphone 5: Your current phone is not compatible with the network changes, which means you may be experiencing dropped calls and poor reception. Starting January 2021, your device will no longer be supported by the network and it will eventually stop working.
This moto G should replace, correct?
Quote from mitchflorida View quoted comment :
Yes, that iPhone 5 is eight years old and doesn't have VoLTE compatible. The newer phones do.
Read this for more info:

https://www.theverge.com/2021/1/5...old-phones

If that iPhone 5 was already on Verizon on 12/31/2020, it'll keep working, but you can't now bring it into the network since Verizon only wants to use VoLTE in the future, along with the other cell carriers. iPhones 6 and above are VoLTE compliant.

Also keep in mind that these Tracfone Moto G phones are placed in the Verizon network.
Verizon is in the process of acquiring Tracfone so soon enough Tracfone will be a Verizon MVNO.

if you buy and use these for emergency phones, like in the car, make sure you use them at least once every 30 days else after about 90 days they will suspend the phone per the T&C.
Good to know. So, either a call or text every 30 days?

As I said in earlier post it does NOT! Just watch their TV promo to the left on the phone offer page. It's only about 12 min. Long and 3/4 the way thru the woman says that!
This is a subject for almost every one of the Tracfone deals. IF you use your Tracfone number over wifi, it counts towards your minutes. Using data over wifi will not. If you use a google voice number over wifi, it will not.
I have tried this on my LG Tracfone, & can verify if you use wifi for calling or texting, it DOES count towards your minutes.
Also, not all Tracfones support wifi calling.

You need a new email and new payment method. Same address is fine. I have bought one of these phone bundles every year from either QVC or HSN (same parent company) since 2015. I like to buy when the $20 promo code availability happens to coincide with a good bundle price, for the optimal deal.

They can also purchase call time, texts, and data separately, $10 for 500 minutes, $10 for 1GB, and so on. The '500MB free when you purchase 1GB' coupon is available frequently, making it $10 per 1500MB.
I don't use the phone much, but I have had to buy extra texts. This works fine for me. Much cheaper than paying by the month.

Hmm. I haven't opened the two I bought yet - was waiting until our current year of service expires in about 4 months. We have the Tracfone version, not unlocked.

Is there some sort of "plain Jane" (vanilla) version of Android that we can put on this thing which would get rid of any bloatware? Or would I need to wait a full year of use on Tracfone to unlock before we could do this?
There is some junk apps like games from the Tracfone phone but you just simply uninstall them. You can easily delete them. I only have 2 Tracfone apps.... It is the "Device Pulse Tracfone app" which just shows the phone info and the "My Account Tracfone app". The My Account Tracfone app is a great app to use to monitor your usage and get all those reward points.... I only have 2 Motorola apps. It is the "Moto" app which you must keep as it controls Moto Actions (quick capture, chop flash, etc.) and Moto Audio which gives you presets for your Moto Audio Dolby.... I don't use it but it gives you audio preset for music, movies, game, etc.. It fine tunes the speaker sound. Only 4 total apps that are pretty much needed for me. No bloatware that you must keep on.

Motorola apps and Tracfone is a very clean user experience.... I can say the same for the Google Fi Moto G Power too.

Even after unlocking TF still has locked bootloader so won't be able to root & load other software. These have a few things to remove, but definitely nowhere near as bad as Samsung bloatware.

I used newer LG and Samsung devices, and Moto phones always have the best skin. Clean stock android with Moto's own features makes it the best for me. Karate chop for flash and shake for camera are both very useful and they also have the best always on displays. It's as good as stock Pixel phones IMO.

Only problem is that they barely get any update, but I don't really care too much about that since their phones are already optimized enough with the clean os.

I completely agree. Clean stock interface, very useful moto actions and nice ambient display. When I started using the Moto G Power, I started laughing because it is pretty much identical with my Pixel 3a and that is a good thing. I think Google and Motorola have the best user interfaces. My daily driver phone is the Samsung Galaxy A71 5G too and the Samsung user interface has improved and its good but I still do prefer the Motorola user interface over it. My Motorola has better speakers than my more expensive Samsung Galaxy A71 5G which says a lot about how good the Moto G Power/Stylus speakers are. Very loud especially for a budget phone.

How about using the Motorola web site boot loader unlock? It doesn't work only for Tracfone Motorola phones? Have you tried it?
It works for all other Motorola phones.
