If you still have a landline phone and you have cable internet or fairly good signal wireless internet (not too much ping), you have got to switch to VOIP telephone and save yourself big bucks. Its easy. I use VOIP.MS and pay less than $10/mo including the monthly service charge of .85 cents and for every minute you talk (incoming and outgoing calls) $0.0100. When traveling the highways & byways of America, I even take it on the road in my RV! I highly recommend the OBi202 2-Port VoIP Phone Adapter - use it for 1 or 2 phone lines or 1 phone line and your fax (this is what I do). And this is a very good price at Newegg.

Switching from my decade-old Ooma to this... thanks OP. I'm glad I read the comments here to learn that the Obi202 would be the best option for me since the (more expensive) 212 is only useful if you also have a POTS line you want to keep using (and losing an analog phone port for), the 3xx aren't really for residential users, and the 200 is older and will be discontinued sooner (as the 1xx series was).

BTW this is really a continuation of this promo from a couple weeks ago albeit with a new code: https://slickdeals.net/f/14733773-obihai-polycom-obi202-2-port-voip-phone-adapter-with-google-voice-and-fax-support-60-newegg

Is the only difference between this Obi202 and the OBi200 that you can connect 2 different phones (or phone systems) to the Obi202 in case you want different phones to ring (for example home and business lines)? Is there any other difference? I was thinking of just using a phone splitter on the phone system to allow my home phone line to also go to the same phone as the Obi200 does since I don't need 2 different phone systems. Any reason for the Obi202 in my case?

Per the previous deal thread, some folks are using this free with Google Voice if I'm not mistaken (911 costs extra): https://slickdeals.net/f/14733773-obihai-polycom-obi202-2-port-voip-phone-adapter-with-google-voice-and-fax-support-60-newegg?v=1

They ported their old school landline to mobile (ie. T-Mobile), then ported to Google Voice. I plan on porting my parents old landline to this once I get the darn thing in the mail... (newegg shipping sucks).

Yes, you can use Google Voice for free with this. We've used an OBi202 since 2013 and it's been flawless. Between free Google Voice for domestic calls and Localphone for international (pennies per call), we've saved thousands of dollars (about $40/month for landline once taxes and fees are added on, or nearly $500/year, multiplied by more than seven years). I paid $75 for it back then and it paid for itself in less than two months.

EDIT: Should also mention that we use GV911 for 911 service. You really don't want to be without 911 if you're replacing your landline. It's only $12/year and yet it's still our biggest phone expense.

One way to guarantee you don't have phone service if you say something they don't like...

It can run off of WiFi with the Poly OBiWiFi5G USB adapter.

Faxing is the same as a phone call - data is sent as audible frequencies, so it's effectively the same as voice calls. IOW, you will pay the same for fax as voice.

Many houses still wired for landline had multiple jacks (in different rooms) on the same wire, so you may be able to plug the OBI into a jack in one room and plug the phone into another jack elsewhere. No guarantees it'll work, but worth a shot if your location fits that description.
