If you have never tried VOIP, I highly recommend it. For service I use VOIP.MS and my monthly bill is less than $5. Phone, fax & a toll-free number - everything including usage. And I did it all myself being a senior citizen. Oh and the fax is via email. I have my own fax#, and when I recv a fax I get it via email! Same is true to send a fax - I email it & the fax is sent! Easy!!
Work from home surge pricing. I bought this for $45 a few years ago.
The device itself is fantastic.
You can do the same with Google Voice and it's free, works with faxes too (although no email copy support that I know of)

Is there a way to use this device to forward landline calls to a cell phone?

For example, I would have a US-based phone number that family in America can call....and this device hooked up to a computer where I would live in Poland. When my family dials the American number, the call gets forwarded (without increased costs) to my cell phone that runs on the Polish cell phone network?

That depends on the VOIP service provider, not this device. This device merely allows you to connect a regular phone or fax machine to VOIP.

just use WhatsApp . . . . you are overthinking the whole process. just like this device, all you need is a cell phone with google voice on it.

I have a Vonage landline phone for local and international calls. Can I port my existing Vonage landline number to this device? Any help appreciated. Thank you 🙏

Well I don't know other phone services but I use it with a free Google voice number. You need someone with a US based number to get a Google voice number. I also had to put it on a VPN and I make and receive calls like I'm in US. I live on East Coast of Africa.

If you have Google voice, that service in itself will forward calls to any phone number that you want. No need for this box. Google voice will either forward to your Polish phone #, or you can just pick up the calls as data calls.

However, if you want to an actual voip provider, that will depend on what the plan offerings of that provider.

Yes GV is free. But there are limitations in their implementation. It does work with the OBI202. But I used that line to feed an office PBX, as a standard POTS call. It cuts off, and goes to GV voicemail too soon, and won't properly transfer. You can't adjust #of rings to voicemail on GV. VOIP.ms is a great alternative for almost free. Very solid implementation of voip service.

Absolutely love mine. I use Google voice so it's completely free. Fax works great also. Only real thing missing is 911, which you have to pay for.

Good way to transition off of a landline phone bill but keep the same phone setup.

But at present I can't see a way to setup E911 service with Obi and Goggle Voice. You are supposed to be able to add just E911 for about $25/yr but Obitalk website points to 3rd party vendors who just point back to Obitalk in a loop with no option to sign up. Or Aveno lets you register but they don't show a sperate E911 option, just full VOIP services for $50/yr and up.
