This explains it a little [consumerreports.org]. Generally speaking, unless marked "for garage use" it's better to put them inside the house in a climate controlled room.

I don't have space indoor, I'm only looking for a garage rated one.
Thanks, I'm looking for a garage one as well. Thank you for the info

I'm assuming there are some.models that advertise garage ready that are more insulated from the room temp. So it's better for the garage so in winter/summer it wouldn't work as hard
I also heard of horror stories of compressors stopping at cold temperatures, and then not restarting. If you don't catch it, you'll need to throw away all your food.

There's a comment by Vissani on the question section that "This freezer is not garage ready and is recommended for temperatures between 50 - 90 degrees Fahrenheit."

Looks 99.99% like the Insignia one that we bought at BB. Both are made by Haier. Ours forms a lot of frost on the inside, even though we rarely open it up. Bought it in May 2020. No air leaks that I can find anywhere. We ended up getting a much larger chest freezer, and now this insignia is waiting for me to sell it.

□ This chest freezer can be used indoors in temperatures between 0°F(-18°C) or under 110°F(43°C). "Max" temperature setting should be used if the ambient temperature is below 5°F.

Need a freezer for our move in May.
Any chance I can order this now and the store will hold it until then?

Randomly in there and saw this. Grabbed one and got home to read this. It's a decent little deep freezer. Very lightweight but has 90deg plug and a little light.

Freezer chests getting cheaper is a good sign, right? Unless people are hoarding vaccines lol.

of course. I didn't even know garage ready and not garage ready existed; bought a hot point when it as available and put in garage. it doesn't get cold enough here, particularly in garage.
