I bought the ASUS ROG STRIX Arion 2-weeks ago, I love it, but it is $53.99

The STRIX Arion supports 4 sizes of drives ( 2280/2260/2242/2230 M Key/B+M Key )

I decided to spend the extra money because it looks a lot cooler and also because the "generic" ones all seemed to have a lot of bad reviews.

normal price is $59.99 but it has been onsale at amazon for 2-3 weeks for $53.99

Paying almost 3X the cost cause it looks cooler and holds the B type, thats a no for me till it goes on a deep sale.

Not that good for NVME-USB.
Try to buy the ones with ASMedia controllers.
I wish the manufactures would list the controllers on all these guys. I think I will give this a shot anyway need one to play around with.

If not in a hurry, better plan ahead and wait for thanksgiving & Christmas time, price goes down to $13-15 commonly for such enclosures. I really miss the $500 75" 4K tv but I'm not in a hurry so I'll wait for the end of the year.

I think this is meant for M2 2280 drives. WiFi cards come in M.2 form, but usually with different keys from a storage drive.

I couldn't agree more. I actually bought a couple of these Asus'. They are excellent. I do have one SSK from a couple of years ago and its still holding up. I'm using these for extra storage on my series X. M.2 NVMEs are the way to go.

They bottleneck the speed of the drive right?

Have one of these hooked to my Xbox series x. Works great.

What SSD did you get for this enclosure. Thinking of doing the same for my Xbox.

So if you are interested in the various NVME enclosure chipsets, this is a great thread:

https://forums.anandtech.com/thre...?view=date

TLDR: The Realtek RTL9210b seems to have the best luck with newer systems and it runs much cooler.

Do you or anyone knows if it is possible to clone a 256gb nvme to a Samsung 500gb 960 evo nvme using the Samsung Migration tool v4?

This will definitely bottleneck the drive. Even a costly thunderbolt enclosure will bottleneck most NVME drives.

The point is: this is an inexpensive way to connect an NVME to almost any computer for cloning, portable storage, etc - with faster performance than almost any usb thumb drive.

Actually the RTL9210 is a good controller. The ASMedia is as well, and they are very comparable between the two. Reports are saying the Realtek runs cooler and uses less power, but doesn't have connectivity issues.

Per the other user comment: https://forums.anandtech.com/thre...?view=date

Lots of feedback on the three controller types. Basically avoid the JMicron JMS583 controller, which is used in the cheapest $20 ones on Amazon SSK & Mokin.

This Unitek uses the Realtek RTL9210 and should be fine.

Hi Glee, I have never used that tool but there are several free cloning tools out there. I bought one so to just that.

Here is an article that talks about some different ones. Should do the job for you. Unless you are Linux then Clonezilla is what you want.
