I'll bite but I do loath supporting either H&R or TurboTax. They spend millions lobbying Politicians to keep the tax code at a level of complexity that keeps them relevant.
Weren't we supposed to get tax reform so we could do our taxes on a 3x5 card?

I wanted Deluxe+State, so I looked it up on Amazon. It said there was a $5 coupon but it ended up being $11.50 with weird multiple No Rush discounts, so grand total was $21.49.

Unless you are in a state that has a law against it, they charge a extra fee for state e-file. Even with the fee the software is better then doing it online. 1) you can see all the forms as you go 2) If you need to do a amended return for some reason it is better with the software.

1 State Program1 (state e-file available for $19.952). Does that mean that if you file in a state that requires free state NY, you can get another one? e.g., PA, NJ etc.?

Was it marked down yesterday ? All I see is $32 - $5 coupon = $27. I've been watching and not seen any price drops. The 3Camels don't see anything significant since November. Did I miss it ?

I saw the $25 credit on both HR Block and Turbotax.

And decided to stick with TT since I have been using it for an extremely long time.

Just an FYI that the IRS Free File version of TurboTax is now live: https://freefile.intuit.com/

This is much more than the regular Free Edition, including most forms and free state filing. To be eligible, you must be under $39K AGI or under $72K AGI if active-duty military.

That's assuming your state will actually have the money. I seem to recall at least one year where CA (my state) ran out of money temporarily later in the year and wasn't sending refunds for a while. But those who filed early, especially electronically, got their refunds without a wait. That's why I always file as early as possible and pay the fee if I have any significant refund from the state.

If you choose a downloadable version, all the "no rush" credits that you may have earned for accepting delayed shipping over the past couple of months can be redeemed. Most people think of these credits as being available for music or movies, but they apply to digital downloads like this as wel.
