Credit to Ewing33855 on their deal for the 7x which is now OOS.

I've been looking at the Arctis SteelSeries 9x for a while now due to its ability for audio and microphone on Xbox Series X and PC via Bluetooth, and audio (only but no microphone) via Playstation 4/5. The discount finally pushed me to buy one for myself.

RIP, bought one from Best Buy last week for $200.

Great headset: does Xbox wireless with console and PC, simultaneous Bluetooth (I use it for listening to podcasts from the iPad when playing on the Xbox), and has a 3.5mm jack if your computer has neither Xbox wireless nor Bluetooth.

Two issues: charging is via micro-USB and not USB-C, and wireless range with the Series X (and possibly all Xboxes) is pretty terrible - works fine when I'm on the couch some 10ft from the Xbox and TV, but if I move to the kitchen about 20ft away I get interruptions in audio. Even Bluetooth has better range and consistency.

General consensus is that the 9x are worse than the new 7x, and that even on the 7x, which have less technical issues, and will work on both the Xbox Series X and PS5, the build quality is just awful, and for the few that have gotten the 7x, they are just falling apart. See reddit steelseries sub, and you will see what I am talking about. Many people with the 7x, reporting that the headphones just fall apart during regular use, still under warranty (the 7x just came out), and steelseries is refusing to replace or fix their headphones.

Add to that that the 7x are only 40mm drivers, that they have fairly weak bass response. I don't know why they would just not have made them 50mm drivers.

How do these compare to the Astro A50s - 3rd Gen? The A50s have killer range but no Bluetooth. How is the noise cancelation and noise bleed? My wife hates playing games next to me simply because she can hear the crystal clear sounds of the battlefield while shes trying to watch TV.

If you join the email list too you can save 10 percent with the code NEWSLETTER10. I just bought my husband the pro and got 10 percent off for his birthday. All of his accessories for his computer are steel series.

Good feedback JMR, thanks. I did see that Arctis released a firmware update for the 9x in mid-December that enabled Bluetooth for Mac OSX and bug fixes. I'm curious as to if that helps with the audio distance with the Xbox Series X? I have a Series X and will update the firmware and test it out once the headset arrives.

Really wish Astro would've been ready for next gen release with a fully compatible mix amp instead of having to buy a $40 adapter separately.

And the adapter wont output 120hz, something to be cautious about. Realized that after the adapter came, sent it back but still waiting for my money back. I guess ill have to contact them soon its been a while.

I've had these since release. I have no problems. Not really sure what everyone else is even talking about. The only thing I dislike is the micro usb to charge.
