Credit Karma Tax—is it really free?
Yes! Credit Karma Tax is always 100% free. It's $0 to file both state and federal tax returns. Even if you're taking deductions or credits, it won't cost you a penny, ever.
Free Tax USA is also another free federal tax software
I've used HR Block for years and like them more than TurboTax. Especially after what TurboTax did to trick people into paying money for their free service.
You don't get a state e-file for free, but it processes your taxes for one state included. You can print out the filled out forms for free and mail it to the state. That's what I end up doing.
Might be dumb question but is the Microsoft Office here a one time purchase? Or is this a yearly subscription model like Office 365? Need Excel and Word but don't wanna pay yearly.
One time purchase. This is a pretty good deal, if you are also needing tax software.

Anyone have feedback between hr block and turbo tax?
Also the hr block says 1 state program included but 20$ to e-file, what's the program for then?

The one time that I tried H&R block, I got a surprise. I could have sworn that finished my tax and PAID!! Next thing I knew, I was told I was late on my tax and fined!!
I used Turbo Tax for about five years then tried H&R for the last four years. Both are decent, but H&R is more intuitive to me.
Also, depending on year and company, extra state downloads can be upwards of 50 dollars. These come with one free state download, which is great for most.
Any idea if the deluxe version is sufficient if I have a rental property and sold it last year or do I need the premium version?
I sold a rental property years ago and it was the one time I hired a pro after I ran it through turbotax. Saved me thousands. I use turbotax today, much simpler filing nowadays.

What did the pro do that TurboTax didnt account for?

I haven't tried both, Wirecutter did a review though. Turbotax and Intuit have practices arround selling and marketing that some people might call evil. but Wirecutter selected them if the free options did not fit your situation: https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutte...-software/
I just bought the H&R Block deal on Newegg and can't return the digital copy lol. Any suggestions? Was waiting for a deal on Office 2019 bundled with something I could use.

Filing fees and state download fees are different

Just to add to what others have said above, if you are from New York, by law state efile is free if you use software to prepare your taxes.
