Today I looked for aviation snips on the Lowes website and found Lenox Offset Straight Snips for $4.39 and Lenox Long Straight Snips for 44-cents. I ordered for pickup expecting cancellation but amazingly Lowes came through.
My thoughts too. If youre gonna let employee steal from customers then just offer it to them first!
Go spend some time trying to find stuff and Lowes and you'll understand. Lots of clearance stuff that says it's in stock has long since been shipped back somewhere. For one group of items I was looking for it gave the aisle and bay number... only problem was that the aisle had been removed from the store 6 months ago. This is why the thread title says YMMV. Nobody is trying to steal your tin snips from you. Geeze!

I'm talking about my $10 blower that disappeared when multiple were in stock. You believe what you want.....

I don't believe it for a second, but even if it was true I'd rather they had it than you. Can't be too many perks working for Lowes.
And btw, if you follow your whining to its inevitable conclusion, this whole clearance deal thing disappears because stores like Lowes don't want their employees abused.

I have found brick seeker to be extremely accurate. I tested it one day I looked at the number in stock then checked out and checked brick seeker again before I walked out the door and the new number reflected the change. The problem isn't the inventory being off, the problem is when it leaves the shelf on the way to the register the employees take it and set it aside for themselves.
I got burned by these a couple times so I tested it. I went into the store and seen three boxes of nails on a really good sale, they were 90% off. I went outside side and placed an order online for three. Then magically two boxes "disappeared" on their way to the register and they told me they had only one in stock. Most employees have no idea it's on sale until you place an order online and it tips them.

Lowe's employees themselves would know not to pick those up, they are absolute garbage and hold the highest return rate of any other product at my local lowes

Huh? Where did I say I said anything to lowes?
Price clearly depends on location, so YMMV.
